SpringHill Suites by Marriott Gallup

This is our 3rd stay here. A mixed bag. It was okay? It's Gallup. I don't expect luxury in Gallup, but this is a new build hotel, not a remodel so I think it could do better. This is over a multiple-day stay. ||Pros:|~Good location close to highway and food|~The alternative Native girl at breakfast was sweet, asking everyone if they had everything they needed. Nicest person at the hotel. |- Good supportive pillows, not just the feather squish ones|~ Bed was comfortable|~ Two different shower nozzles, one up top and lower body one||Cons:|~Broken bottles ripped off the wall in the shower|~ No hot water midday in shower, only at night|~Stagnant-smelling rooms|~ Cleaners cleaned shared wall rooms loud keeping us awake mornings we tried to sleep in.|~ Bed wasn't made on arrival. Check-in went smoothly, temperature of the lobby was nicely warm. Room was clean and smelled good, heater worked well, very comfortable bed, shower worked well. All employees were friendly and gracious.

The evening manager was very friendly and tried her best to assist us. The rooms are in desperate need of a renovation because of the nasty smell and subpar repairs. Also our AC wasn’t working, and someone was paged to check it out. No one showed up :( .The economy of the city seems to be struggling, but Marriott should have the funds to totally give this hotel a major overhaul. I see that Marriott has apologized profusely on other ratings platforms for years about this particular hotel; but obviously, they willingly do nothing to update this pricey hotel. And we deserved a discounted rate due to the broken AC.I strongly do not recommend this hotel; it’s pretty gross.

Positive: Easy access from freeway, security on the premises, clean hotel and comfortable room. Negative: The shower curtain had a stain and reported. The manager quickly had the housekeeper tend to the concern. But, they must have changed the wrong room. As I retuned late in the evening, the curtain was still hanging.

The hotel is located near shopping, dinning and quick freeway access. The room was clean and modern. Unfortunately the thermostat/ heater did not work in room 412 (unit unplugged and blinking green and red after being plugged in, no power to thermostat). The front desk had to be called at 4am and Mike from the front desk came to the room and could not resolve the issue and stated he would let management know, we were not offered a room change and had to bundle up with extra clothing to keep warm, temp outside was in the mid 20's and the cold could be felt from the window. At check out I spoke with the lady at the front desk and she stated Mike did not leave a note in the log book and stated management would have to review the issue before any type of compensation.
