The Summer House India Street

Absolutely horrendous service. Upon arrival, I was put into a room but then was moved upstairs. They tell us they put us in the wrong room again, and made us go back downstairs. No one apologized or helped with our things. I was blamed for being in the wrong room. While re-packing our things from the other room, I forgot my bathing suit and coverup. Unlike the sensible and hospitable way of returning the items to the guest by leaving them in the new room, the bathing suit was left unfolded in the living room, a public space where anyone could take it. We were told we would get a cot for our room, but it was not here. Workers aggressively asked us if we knew how difficult it would be to get a cot on such short notice. I booked a night at this hotel six months in advance only to receive a very brief email from the hotel cancelling my stay less than 48 hour before i was due to arrive. All of my plans were cancelled because it was too late to find other accommodations for the Stroll weekend. No explanation in the email, no offfer of a discount for a future date and no suggestions as to how to find another room. Pre-paid ferry needed to be cancelled after scrambling to try to find a room. They totally ruined my weekend with no apology.

I cancelled my trip due to Covid-19. I've had to call multiple times and each time they have no record of my calls/cancellation request. I finally got my credit card company involved because it seemed sketchy and did not seem like the hotel was going to refund me (even though I cancelled well before the 30 day mark). Once the bank contacted them I finally received my first "confirmation email" for the cancellation. I waited 4 weeks for my refund. Calling the hotels “help center” (absolutely zero help from those people) every few days just for them to take down my information and tell me someone will call me back which never happened. Beyond curious if I would have ever received my refund if I didn’t get my bank involved...Seems fraudulent!

My husband and I visited Nantucket for the Christmas Stroll with another couple. We chose to stay at the Summer House because we had stayed there many years ago and had a great visit. Our friends stayed at the Roberts Collection just a block away. When my husband and I walked to the Summer House with luggage in tow to check in we were SHOCKED to find that it was vacant. The sign was gone from the door, no one was there and the black door was unlocked. Completely vacant. We prepaid $1400 for a three night stay and were left completely stranded on one of the busiest weekends on Nantucket. We quickly began to look for another place to stay and finally found a room at The Nantucket Hotel. We had to contact American Express to dispute charges from Summer House. ||DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THE SU

No one to greet you....not even a sign with instructions. Staff was less than friendly and the Summer House Sconset folks just as bad. Place was not clean and in need of serious repair and upgrade, peeling paint, leaks, poor plumbing, noisy window a/c unit. The ultimate was the rat in the kitchen on our third day. Beautiful outdoor terrace hadn't been organized the whole time we were there with furniture strewn all over. In need of serious help if they want our business again, particularly at the price we paid!!
