Super clean. Beautiful, good location, fun history. Excellent hosts - kind, professional. We have stayed 5 nights and have booked for 3 more.

My husband and I had a trade show in Boston and the only hotels/bed & breakfasts that weren't fully booked were $300+. So we began to search outside of Boston and fortunately found the 1888 Guest Home. We typically stay at Bed & Breakfasts with private baths, so this was a bit different for us. As the name implies, it is a Guest Home - breakfast is not included. Salley, the lovely owner, opens up her home to you and offers a lovely bedroom and a shared bath. Luckily, we were the only guest on our floor so we had the bathroom to ourselves. Her Victorian home is lovely. The bed was very comfortable, there was a nice television but no wifi. I stayed her recently with my teenage daughters who felt like they had stumbled into a most amazingly warm and welcoming world, greeted by Sally who made them feel instantly comfortable and at home. The rooms are bright and sunny and very clean. Beautifully-decorated, the substantially-sized rooms, with antique furniture are also very comfortable. The guesthouse is very centrally located, with coffee shops, restaurants close by. This gracious house and its wonderful owner offer an unbeatable welcome and stay.

I had to come to town for a funeral and couldn't find a room near Waltham. My brother mentioned The 1888 Guest House, so I booked the room. The owner, Sallie, is the sweetest, kindest lady who loves what she does. My room was so comfortable. She was waiting for me in the morning with a hug and a smile. I was able to sit with her for a little while in the kitchen and hear her story. If you have an opportunity to come to Waltham and need a place to stay, please try The Guest House, not only was it a delight but a bargain as we'll. And her dog Holly will greet you with her wagging tail and a toy.

The room was bright, clean and comfortable. Its location is on a main thoroughfare, is close to many eating and other facilities. The shared bathroom is up-to-date plumbing-wise, but if you don't care for cheap, single-ply TP, bring your own. Sallie provides clean towels and washcloths daily and makes up the bed, too. Each room has a 19 inch LCD TV but only basic Fios service, no WiFi. My wife and I would stay there again. Very charming. No credit cards.
