The Shaffner Inn | Winston-Salem Historic Inns

What an absolutely delightful bed and breakfast! The tastefully decorated rooms with the old world antiques to the lovely living room complete with piano was so charming. An elegance rarely seen nowadays. The breakfast was exceptional as well, with fresh cooked food, fresh fruit and delicious coffee. All served on real china no less!! I can’t recommend highly enough. The innkeeper Shane was friendly and helpful as well. One of the most delightful stays we’ve had in years, and all for a reasonable price.

What a disappointment The Shaffner Inn was.|The room we had reserved, the Piedmont Suite, was spacious and at first entrance was impressive. Sadly, we found the floor needed vacuuming, the ladies dressing table mirror was so dusty, you could write your name on it.|Two lamps on either side of the couch didn’t have lightbulbs in them. Ironically, there was a big extension cord, that could be easily tripped on running across the floor to these two non-working lamps.|The TV was not connected to anything and we had to use the inn’s WiFi to watch a movie on our laptop.|We called the “emergency number” about the non-working TV and the voice mail message said they would quickly respond, but from our 7pm call, to the following morning, NO ONE CALLED.|The toilet seat in the bathroom was loose and th

2/7/26-Stayed in the Falls Room of this very nice bed and breakfast. The Falls Room is large and comfortable and has a large bathroom. The Shaffner is walking distance to 4th street with all of its restaurants. The only issue is the noise coming from the adjacent Highway 421, however with the in room sound machine and a fan that I brought with me, the street noise was reduced to an acceptable level. The breakfast in the morning was great and we overall enjoyed our stay.

Exactly as advertised, with all the old house charm, and at a great price. Staff were super helpful and available at the desk or via text for any questions. The house is situated right next to a busy highway, but a white noise machine was available in the room if I wanted to use it. Great location for walking to downtown Winston-Salem (~15 minute walk) or Old Salem (~20 minute walk). The breakfast was sublime, and I felt so fancy with the lovely china and sideboard buffet. Thanks for a great stay!

Innkeeper was very attentive and helpful allowing us to complete late check in Christmas Eve with no hiccups (thanks to their clear instructions)! Wachovia room was very pleasant, loved the tub, the room was clean and comfortable. We are STILL talking about how delicious the biscuit and gravy breakfast was! Definitely put this place high on your list for stays in Winston Salem!
