The Summit Street Inn was very clean, quiet, and is a unique historic property. It is in a very convenient location to downtown Winston Salem. Staff were friendly and there were excellent restaurants in walking distance. The complimentary breakfast was delicious (scrambled eggs, grits, bacon, yogurt and fruit, bread bagels, muffins, etc.). Bed was very comfortable. Parking was safe and ample right in back of the Inn. The only reason I rated my stay at a 4/5 is because my room was so cold and no matter how much I turned up the thermostat it remained cold. The hallways and first floor were nice and toasty leading me to believe the room I was in was not getting proper airflow from the furnace. There was a portable heater available for use in the room.

My wife and I traveled to Winston Salem to visit family. We stayed at the Summit Street Inn as it was close by our son and walkable to restaurants , coffee shops, bars and other nightlife and activity. West End is a great little eclectic neighborhood with a lot of character and beautiful old houses. The Summit Street Inns two houses are fully restored with a pretty brick courtyard and garden in between the two houses. The pre check in contact was via text but personalized and our hostess met us at the door upon check. We stayed in The Alspaugh room which was beautiful with a huge master bathroom which was tastefully decorated, comfortable king bed and views. Breakfast was sumptuous with a generous buffet of bacon, eggs, grits, fruits yogurts , pastries , juices and hot and cold beverages.

Such a beautiful inn and property. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance. The included brunch at Founders was great!

I have tinnitus and sound sensitivities and always look for hotels with quiet HVAC systems and plumbing. The Summit Street Inns came through. The buildings are restored old houses, but the rooms are quiet. Street noise was also minimal, as the buildings are located on the edge of downtown rather than right in the middle -- walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The rooms are all different. We chose the loft with the spacious bathroom, soaking tub and shower. It was clean, thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable overall. We did not get to stay for breakfast, but it is made and served on-site. The wine at check-in was also a nice touch, and all the good things people say here about Mary Evelyn are correct. She is a gem, and made our first trip to Winston-Salem a good one.

I stayed two days in the Winston room on the 2nd floor, but I was able to see two other rooms on the same floor and all were very impressive! The rooms are very large with comfortable beds, very nice linens and a profusion of quality "My Pillows". The bathroom is extremely spacious and well appointed with a cast iron soaking tub (complete with Dead Sea bath salts) and the shower is lovely with a tilted floral design in the center and two shower heads and a marble topped shelf/bench. It's technically large enough for several people! The TV is also oversized and the room has a mini fridge but no microwave. However, there is a microwave in the common room downstairs. Breakfast was hot and especially delicious with scrambled eggs, grits, crisp bacon, fresh muffins and a variety of fruits and
