Disappointing Stay - Nothing Like the Photos We booked this motel for an affordable two-night ski getaway over the holidays. Since it's run by the Red Lion Inn—which has an excellent reputation—I felt confident we'd have a decent experience. The online photos looked lovely and aligned with the recent trend of motels being renovated into more upscale accommodations. Unfortunately, we couldn't even make it through one night. Upon entering our room, it was immediately clear the space looked nothing like the photos. The room was severely run down with peeling paint, filthy carpets, and an overwhelming musty/moldy smell combined with marijuana smoke wafting in from other rooms. Positive: Surprisingly I liked the remote status. Having a code for the door not a key made me feel more secure. The clean smell when we opened the door was also reassuring. hotel employee did a wonderful job with the housekeeping when we asked for her assistance. Negative: Pet-friendly should not allow a guest to dump their dog in the room to bark all the while they were gone - at 8 a.m. on a Saturday.

Great room and great location for everything we were doing in the Berkshires. Quiet motel off the main road, clean room that was pet friendly and very reasonably priced. The code to enter the room was texted to me a few hours before check-in and we got a great email with some excellent ideas sent a few days ahead of time that was very helpful and had great suggestions. Not having to check in with a person worked out great for us, it was a very easy experience and we had a great time staying here for 3 nights. We would definitely stay here again!

It's a shame that Red Lion doesn't seem interested in running The Little Lion (formerly Briarcliff). We've stayed here in the past and it's been great - comfortable rooms, great breakfast, access to the lobby to hang out, and a wonderful experience with Rhonda, the onsite innkeeper who recommended local resources. All of that is gone. Contactless check in, billed as a selling point, means there is nobody on site. Only folks there are you and possibly other guests. Lobby is no longer accessible, and breakfast is not provided. When I inquired about getting breakfast at the inn, I was assured it was available, but when I asked if it was included in the cost, I was told no. Even a credit towards breakfast would have helped. At $250 per night, one would expect that the least they could do is housekeeping for multi-day stays. But no. The website does not mention this and there are no humans about to speak with so it's buyer beware. There is a nice big backyard area, not fenced in but nice. The rooms are very basic and the walls are paper thin so be prepared to hear your neighbors. Will nit stay here again. Overpriced and underserved.
