It is always good and have stayed here multiple times, we just wish the toilets were higher off the floor. The parking lot needed more attention to get all the snow out. It would be nice if there were more offerings on the continental breakfast.

Positive: The historic value is what we expected. Negative: The staff was very unfriendly from the start to the finish. Seemed like they we not happy to be there. Grouchy, sour acting, unfriendly. Advertising as free breakfast, not a continental breakfast.

Outdated, stained carpet but kind of unique at the same time. Our room was very roomy, bed wasnt uncomfortable. We were on the street side, was pretty loud all night but thats not their fault. Wished there was a better selection for breakfast. Prepackaged muffins, 3 options of cereal...coffee available all day, and night. Didn't explore the sauna and gym. Seemed a way better choice than most other places to stay in town. Would be a great choice for buisness or pleasure stay. Lots of dining options within walking distance and the Soo Lock right across the street.

We stayed two nights. We could see the locks from our room, so that was good. The only “issue” if you want to call it that, was that we couldn’t get a cart out to the parking lot to load/unload our luggage due to the snow. Not the hotel’s fault; just an inconvenience for us older folks.

For me it's all about expectations. Our total cost was $206 per night. That's not budget yet we got a budget hotel experience. Yes, the location is good, the room is fine. Good space and clean but in need of some repair. Chips on bathroom counter and in the tub. The carpet on the stairs is very stained and threadbare. The furnishings in the lobby are dated and tired. The breakfast is weak: cellophane wrapped muffins, high sugar yogurt, dry cereal, instant oatmeal. ie. budget hotel breakfast. We should have gone with Holiday Inn or Best Western. Generally, those hotels provide a reliable experience.
