Lockview Motel

The Lockview is right downtown, across the street from the locks. Its an easy walk to all down town shops and was very quiet during our stay (late October). The rooms are clean and have no noticeable smell. There are plenty of available outlets for charging devices. Our room (123) could use a little work. The decorative clock on the wall was cracked. The USB plugs in the lamp didnt work. The bathroom floor was cracked and a little squishy, the wallpaper was peeling in multiple places. The furnace was difficult to regulate (your choices are low heat or high heat, both warmed our room quickly). But none of that took away from its stellar location and fantastic staff. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. Would stay here again!

Quick summary: I base my review on what I expect of a 3-star type of hotel room. This place is mostly about a clean, fairly comfortable room (no sitting chair at all - sit on the bed.). No daily housekeeping, but you can ask for what you need (e.g. coffee refill.) Good location in town to walk to restaurants and shops, boat tours. Cottage-style rooms and 2-story motel.||We were on a road trip through the area, and stayed here for 2 nights. ||Room #114 is a cottage-style room (duplex) with parking right out front. There were two comfy queen beds with two pillows each (i.e. making sitting up to read easier; making TV watching easier. The rooms are basically clean. Good things about this hotel included being across the street from the locks. In walking distance to several restaurants and local shops. The rooms are generally clean but in need of repair. Some of the furniture and is worn. The beds are excellent. The bathroom is dated but very clean. The toilet is super low to the floor. Great for a kid bad for an older adult. The room was generally clean but there were some minor issues the baseboards needed cleaning. The staff are extremely sweet. If you're looking for a basically clean bed and quick access to town this is a great place.

This hotel was a complete surprise - and in a good way! It may not look like much from the outside, but the rooms are spacious and clean, the bathrooms are well stocked, and the front desk is courteous and helpful. All this on top of a stellar location right across from the docks and in walking distance to places to eat, drink and shop. I really wanted to stay in one of the cottages, but we were in the 2 story building closest to the street. But I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Positive: Staff was super friendly & helpful, in fact one employee who had left for the day, came back to fix our TV problem. When we told them about a nest of Bees under the porch of our Cottage, they immediately investigated & did what was needed. Negative: only negative is not enough plugs for everything, but this seems to be a universal problem with older motels. This is not a deal breaker we WILL stay again and again.
