Soo Locks Campground

I thought the woman who took my reservation on the phone seemed a bit cranky, but we went anyway because of the excellent location. We entered the office to check in and had a friendly conversation with the girl at the desk. She joked with us and offered us a few pointers for our stay. The campground is not beautiful, but it is somewhat nostalgic. The office sits up a few steps and includes a basic small store as well as a coffee room that provides free coffee and tea from morning to evening. There were always a few small groups visiting at tables and it had a welcoming feel. Everyone staying here is interested in seeing freighters pass by, and when one does we all walked to the grassy point in the NW area of the campground where we chatted as we watched them go by. Great location for touring the area and traveling from Canada. The staff was very kind and helpful. Loved the view from our deck! Wow! Def get near the water for a great experience and go to the downtown- Zac and Mack’s for $2.50 icecream on Tuesdays then see the Ships go through the locks across the street (FREE!)

We had a great stay at this campground! River front site (43). Friendly staff and fellow campers - mostly retirees. We got to see the boats go by. Older building but clean bathrooms and facilities which was a big plus. Quiet at night. If you can’t get a riverfront site, sites #71-82 are elevated and have a good view of the river also. Bring binoculars! And we found the Original Soo Locks Boat Tour to be well worth it.

A great RV campground! Pull through spots and back in lots. The views are spectacular, we are watching ships go through all day long! The picture on site is an actual view we had.
