Surf Shanty Motel

We were surprised to find out today via email from hotels.com that we had a reservation for tonight. We don't have a hotels.com account and neither my husband or I recalled making a reservation. We called Shanty - they said a Mastercard had been charged. Whew, we also don't have a Mastercard so that had to be incorrect. This must be fraud. Looked further, our PayPal account had been charged $382.92 in August. The Motel will not authorize a move of the "reservation" nor issue a refund. The reservation also had cancellation coverage...seems a waste. Not a great experience.

We loved our 3 night stay here back in April. There were 2 other rooms taken on the 3rd floor, for only our first night, and the rest of the motel was empty! We picked a perfect time to visit Dewey Beach. The weather was lovely and the beach wasn't overcrowded. |The rooms here are fun, bright, and so clean. The toiletries and water provided were excellent. We loved the decor and location, you can walk anywhere in Dewey Beach from here, which we did every day. So many good restaurants nearby. The beach is a block away, ocean about 2 blocks from here. Not sure how the user below me heard the waves from that far away. This motel has multiple houses behind it before the beach entry even starts, then it's over a small hill and down.|We spoke to Andre a couple times and he was the nicest man eve

First time in Dewey Beach and we are so happy we stayed in this adorable, clean, comfortable and perfectly located motel. Steps to the beach, wonderful breakfast shop across the road and some really fun restaurants around the corner. We were able to walk 2 miles on the beach to Rehoboth. Found plenty of sea glass along the way. Andre was so welcoming and you can tell how much he loves this place. April is quiet in the best way. Must be so fun in the summer too! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

From the moment we arrived at Surf Shanty, we knew we were in for something special. Nestled between the ocean and bay, this hotel exceeded every expectation we had — and then some.||Location & Atmosphere:|You simply can’t beat waking up to the sound of waves crashing just a half a block from your room. The sunrise is magical and the sunsets on the bayside is equally as gorgeous. Absolutely magical. It felt like we were living in a postcard every single day.||Service:|Andre was beyond exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay memorable. Great, clean, and convenient place to stay. Right off the Van Dyke beach access. The location makes short work of getting on and off Dewey beach. Andre was as advertised and was super helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and like others have mentioned the beds were super comfy and easy to fall asleep in. Highly recommend!
