Super 8 by Wyndham Groton

It was fine. At least that's what I told my daughter when we walked into the tired looking room they rented us. It didn't smell bad, but the whole place was pretty worn down. We had spent the week on a Fall Break Connecticut road trip and tbh, it was more than a little disappointing to have this Super 8 be our last stop. The Super 8 near our home in Arizona is a lot nicer than this, as were the other hotels we'd stayed in around Connecticut that week, so this was a pretty big let down. I don't think the towels had been changed. There was one hanging on the back of the bathroom door, and there was black hair on the washcloths. Positive: It was quiet enough to sleep. Negative: Hair in the bathtub drain, asthma was triggered by the remnants of smoking in the room, carpet had bare spots and stains, one lampshade was shredded, shower wall was patched over a couple of cracks that weren't fully covered, no breakfast.

The place is a little run-down, but it had what counted, as far I, as a single man, counted: a very comfortable bed, a quiet air conditioner and a TV that worked. Breakfast was just coffee and a Nutri-bar, but the rate was dirt-cheap and the bathroom was clean.

Where to start. This place is absolutely disgusting. The parking lot is full of abandoned vehicles. Its definitely a place where a lot of people live. Party's in the parking lot. As soon as you walk in the lobby all you smell is weed, I checked into a room and as soon as I opened the door the smell was putrid and over powering, smelled like a decomposing body. I was so tired when I got there I just dealt with it for a night, I woke up 3 times from the smell. The following day I requested a new room which I got. That room smelled better but still stank. The sheets and towels were clean but the rest of the room hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Disgusting crumbling hotel that is fully booked most nights by "smokers." My room reeked of weed and other stuff most nights. Some nights I had to go outside just to get fresh air. Laundry was broken my whole stay. Breakfast is old coffee from a pot and a stale pastry from a bag. Hotel staff did not care about noise and smoke issues.
