Super 8 by Wyndham Altoona

I stayed in room 222 for two nights around the end of January. I used their online early check in forum. The lobby and halls were clean but periodically smelled like cigarette smoke. My physical check in went very smoothly. I was told I could use the back door to bring my stuff in since my room was at the very back, but I couldn't get the door's keycard reader to work with my keycard despite a lot of experimentation and attempts. In my room, there was a bit of damage. Pretty much all the normal wear and tear, a patch of missing paint on the window sill, the floor was a bit noisy and noticeably uneven, a few assorted marks on the walls where you'd expect, mixed with a couple drywall patches in the bathroom. The worst of the damage was some water damage along where the shower meets the wall

We have been using this hotel for the last 10 years and still remainsa good place to stay. The staff are warm and friendly. Close to downtown Altoona, yet quiet. Lots of free parking space available.One issue - the free breakfast is nothing more than a muffin, juice, tea or coffee.

Positive: Have stayed before at this location but since my last stay it has gone down hill I will not us it again will try the Marriott or Quality inn down the road Negative: You need to remove free breakfast! Having to go to the desk and beg for a juice and a muffin with NO seconds is not breakfast Nothing set out no waffles, no cereal, no milk nothing set out no tables to eat at

This is my first ever Google review, only to strongly advise you NOT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL. I booked this location for a Penn State home football game weekend. I was required to book two nights. I made a reservation months in advance, checked-in via the mobile link that was provided on the day of my stay, and paid for my hotel. When I got to the hotel after the game, the front desk person had my information written on a piece of paper and suggested there was an issue. He proceeded to tell me that he had room 317 assigned to me via my reservation, but they had placed another person in my room and it was currently occupied. He called the owner and I advised the owner I’m 2.5 hours from home, have a reservation, and paid for my room already - I expect to have a place to stay. He said they didn’

My wife spent the night here to do the train ride. Got to the room smelled of cigarette smoke my wife brought lysol didn't help. Was going to ask for a refund and find another place my wife no we will stay. Live and learn she said. And continental breakfast please nothing. A full refund would be nice i know that will never happen. I never would recommend this place
