Staybridge Suites Grand Forks, an IHG Hotel

This hotel is a dump. There was dried puke outside my room door. The bathroom was filthy. The kitchen floor needs to be replaced. The breakfast consisted of a couple Cooked eggs. When I ask the server if there would be any other food added, she said she didn’t think so. I was at breakfast on a Saturday morning at 8 o’clock. It looks like there has been no work done on anything at this hotel in the past 10 years find somewhere else to stay.

First of all, I want to say the staff is first rate! Every staff member we encountered was helpful and happy. We stayed on graduation weekend and the prices were really high, but we wanted a suite where family could visit while we were there. The bed desperately needed the mattress replaced. The side my hubby slept on had a permanent, deep indent where it looked like a very heavy person had slept. The hotel staff graciously offered to give us a different room, but we didn't want to have to pack up and move again. The flatware drawer would not open and close properly. It almost fell out on the floor when I opened it. Staff said that there were going to be renovations coming soon. Overall, the hotel is excellent and in a good area. The front staff was great, all shifts. The breakfast options were better than most hotels I have been too and the evening meal offerings were a nice touch. The common area was pleasant to sit in and felt warm and inviting. The room was just okay. I did like the space and kitchen set up but it felt a bit dated. Like I was in a 2nd hand hotel. Maybe it was the flooring in the entry way that was peeling up or the color scheme of the room. The room was clean and up to standards in that regard, but it just felt bland.

Room are very worn out but kept nice. And what's with the $3.25 parking lot maintenance fee? Grand Forks got hit last night with an ice storm. The parking lot here is an ice skating rink. So much for the maintenance fee. Where I come from, I build my fees into my total cost of doing business. The maintenance fee is just an annoyance like the resort fees in Vegas. How stupid.

Our family enjoyed our stay in a suite for 3 nights. The beds were comfortable,(even the pull out sofa!) room was clean and kitchen area had everything we needed. Breakfast buffet had many items to choose from. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
