Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Grand Forks, ND

Very nice rooms, decent breakfast, hot tubs were down and the pool levels were low. Then entire property was SO hot in all the halls and rooms. And a very heavy perfume smell permeates everything from the air fresheners EVERYWHERE- to the point we were having trouble breathing and got massive headaches and had to open our windows in the room to be able to handle it. Had moving hotels been an option I would have just from that smell.

Rooms were ok. Front desk staff was friendly and the chocolate chip cookies were amazing. The pool was AWFUL!!! The pool area was dirty and there were dirty pool towels laying everywhere. There was paint peeling off the walls and there was duct tape on the floor. There was mold in the larger pool and peeling paint in the kiddie pool. Neither hot tub was working and although the signs say they are working to fix the hot tubs ASAP it looks like previous reviews feom months ago show they haven't worked for months. Breakfast was mostly packaged food but was ok.

It was a good stay for one night. The staff was very accommodating when we asked about using a meeting room. The breakfast was pretty normal for a hotel. Our toilet seemed abnormally low to the ground. Worked great for the kids. The hotel seemed pretty old, I’d say it’s due for some new carpet. The pool area was pretty sketchy. The kiddie pool had a paper towel or rag stuck in a hole on the mushroom water fall, and the water wasn’t even on the kiddie slide.

Liked how large the rooms are. Breakfast area was nice and large as well as clean. Breakfast food itself left would score low, eggs were not good, one flavour of yogurt, same options for 4 days in a row. Did not like the zero room service unless requested policy, we took out our own garbage 4 days in a row, had to ask for tissue and toilet paper. I'm sure if I would have asked to clean our room everyday they would have, but I didn't feel comfortable doing that. Room service to empty garbage and refill bathroom supplies should happen daily in my opinion.

Had to modify travel plans and leave Grand Forks a day early. Told the front desk at 8:30 a.m. that I no longer needed the room and to cancel the coming night's stay. I then learned that they charged me anyway, so I disputed the credit card charge as I had not stayed there. They told the bank that I had not notified them of any cancelation, and the card company believed their story. Needless to say, I will not be staying there in the future for my GF visits. So, if you potentially need to change your plans while traveling, I recommend that you try another hotel that is not so greedy and deceptive.
