Statesville / I-77 KOA Journey

We spent several months here. The bathrooms are dated but very clean. The traffic noise is what it is, the ac would drown it out. Pool was great. The rules are strict, but due to them this is a very safe and clean park. Sites are long and most are level. The sites don’t have fire pits, we used our solo stove, but you can rent one. Probably the cleanest and safest we’ve been to. I got to watch deer wander almost daily. Easy interstate access, and great local restaurants nearby.

STAY AWAY! I would give 0 stars if possible! We used to stay here as well as their sister site Statesville RV Park I-77 when they were both KOAs with no issues. We travel all over the Eastern United States for work and have never encountered such rudeness both directed towards us as well as other campers from the staff/owners. First experience we were at their Statesville location sitting outside with our dogs on their leashes, another camper pulled in across from us. Upon exiting their vehicle their Golden Retriever jumped out of the truck to use the bathroom. The owner/ employee began yelling at the family loud enough for the entire park to hear about their dog not being on a leash (no exaggeration), the family then chose to get back in their truck and leave all the while being told that

We arrived an hour before check-in and were greeted by an abrasive woman who told us we would be charged 10 dollars extra for early arrival. Ok fine she then informed us we would also be charged 10 dollars per day for my adult daughter who was in our vehicle with us but would not be staying at the park. When I explained that she was staying with friends nearby they agreed to only charge me 10 dollars for the arrival day………seems excessive! A simple good afternoon and a conversation would have gone a long way to make this an enjoyable experience. |We travel through this area many times per year I hope the 20 bucks was worth losing repeat business.

Well, it's convenient if nothing else... Unfortunately, it's right next to Interstate 77, making it pretty noisy and not conducive to a peaceful night's sleep. Sites are small, close together and not very level. Power is not very stable, voltage dropped as low as 106... Not good for system operations, tripped the surge protector multiple times.

I had the pleasure of staying at this RV park for several months, and I truly can’t say enough good things about it. From the very beginning, the managers and hosts made me feel welcome — they are easy to work with and friendly. They genuinely care about their guests and work incredibly hard to maintain a peaceful, safe, and beautiful environment. One thing I especially appreciated is that while the managers are kind and approachable, they’re also firm when it comes to enforcing the park’s rules — and that’s a good thing! It’s this balance of compassion and consistency that keeps the park so well-maintained, clean, and comfortable for everyone. You can tell they take pride in the place, and it shows in every detail — from the manicured grounds to the quiet, respectful atmosphere. I met f
