SpringHill Suites by Marriott Indianapolis Airport/Plainfield

We stayed here for a small, intimate birthday celebration. The room itself was nice, and we appreciated being able to check in online and use a mobile key to avoid the front desk. Early check-in at no extra cost was also a nice perk. However, the experience was ruined by the 3rd shift front desk employee. We swam from 4–6 PM, went back to the room to eat and sing Happy Birthday, and around 6:40 PM she came knocking on our door claiming there were complaints about our room and multiple others. She pushed her way into the room uninvited and told us we had to be quiet — even though quiet hours don’t start until 10 PM. I remained polite and simply said okay. We visited Indianapolis to attend the Colts game. We enjoyed our stay at Springhill Suites, the staff were welcoming, courteous, and helpful, and our room was spacious and clean. The breakfast each day was delicious (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, waffles, oatmeal). We especially appreciated talking with the helpful gentleman who told us he retired in another area and decided to move back home to Indianapolis. The one issue we had was we stayed for 3 nights, and our room was never cleaned. We had to go to the front desk and ask for rolls of toilet paper and wash cloths and towels. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Positive: We had a two bedroom suite. I liked how it was laid out. Negative: The common areas were dirty. Our hallway looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in weeks. I told the front desk person.

The king bed was made with only four small, couch-cushion-sized pillows (see photo), which are not adequate for sleeping. Marriott brand standards for a king clearly require four king pillows or a combination of Euro and standard pillows, so this setup would not pass a standards audit. When we called for normal pillows, we were told to come down to reception to pick them up ourselves, which is the first time I’ve ever had a hotel refuse to deliver basic bedding to the room. For a Marriott property, this fell well below expectations and was an unnecessary inconvenience for something as fundamental as proper pillows.

Stayed here on a family road trip. The common areas were very nice and clean and the gym was spacious (much bigger than the pool). It also had a very pleasant outdoor patio area. I thought the room was large and comfortable, though my wife felt the carpet was dated. The only negatives were that air conditioning did not circulate in the hotel hallways (upstairs), making it a bit stuffy, but the temperature in the room itself was fine. In addition, the bathroom sink did not drain well and was likely clogged. The wall of the bathtub is quite high, requiring a big step up to shower. My wife thought this was a bit precarious, but I didn’t take much notice of it. Otherwise, I thought this was a nice enough hotel for the price point.
