Sonesta Simply Suites Austin South

Buyer beware. When I say highway robbery i mean it literally. Dont let the illusion of the security guard who is only there at night give you the illusion of safety. I booked my stay off of air bnb and this property not only looked appealing, but was in a great central location in south Austin. I arrived at about 5 oclock checked in and proceeded to park my uhaul in broad daylight not knowing at the time that my vehicle was already being watched. I parked in spot in clear plain site where i assumed my car would be safe as the site had many cameras recording the property. I went up to my room changed clothes and in less then an hour came back to my car. I left to go grab food upon leaving i look in the back only to realize that over half the boxes i had in the back of the uhaul were gone. O

Positive: ALL THE LADIES AT front desk out of the bomb that go out of the way to help anybody myself being an in executive management, I would pick 2 of those ladies over a 100 men. Very kind and respectful and work good under pressure. Negative: Just all the homeless people around it. However manager made sure security was outside foing th r re job.

I was a little hesitant booking this place because it’s right by the freeway and there isn’t much around it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I felt completely safe during my stay. There is security on site and a 24-hour person at the door, which made a big difference. The rooms were very clean and it was impressively quiet. I had no issues at all with check-in or check-out. I also traveled with a service dog, and everything went smoothly. I had my documentation ready and experienced no issues at check-in or during my stay. There is also a small, nice gym, which was great for getting out of the room and moving around a bit. For the price point, this is easily a five-star stay. Do not waste your money and time in this hotel. I just wanted to share my terrible experience with staying in the Sonesta Simply Suites South Austin. I have visited 55 countries and booked more than 200 hotels during the last 25 years. This was the worst experience I have ever had. 1- The front desk and his manager were so unprofessional, rude, aggressive and absolutely had no idea how to treat with the customer. They talked all the time in a non-English language (maybe Hindu) in front of me when I was asking them any question. 2- The provided room was not even serviced and lots of items were missing such as plate, fork, tissue, body wash shampoo and many more. 4- There were damages, scratches, dents, rust on the entrance door, on fridge, on mirrors in the room. 5- There were broken plugs

Positives: the front desk staff were very friendly; we had a top floor room at the end of the hall and it was one of the quietest spots (from the inside) we've ever been in - we never heard any noise or talking in the hall or from other rooms during our entire stay; the room was large and roomy with a full kitchen. Bed was comfy and bedding was good. Negatives: had we known there would literally not be ANY housekeeping during our entire 6 night stay, and that we had to take our dirty linens down to front desk ourselves, replace with clean linens, take care of our full garbages (place in hall when full - did not get a replacement bag for them), we would not have stayed here.
