Sonesta Essential Hotel & Suites Kansas City/Blue Springs

The staff were very nice/friendly and accommodating (honestly one of the best parts of the hotel). Rooms were clean. Shower was hot with good pressure. Water and coffee always available in the lobby. We had to switch rooms because our heater wasn’t working. The breakfast is not great (and wasn’t available one of the days we stayed - but it apparently was the delivery company’s fault, not the staff’s). Solid value for the price though.

Positive: Great location, good breakfast, friendly staff. Negative: We have stayed at this location three times over the past year and it seems to get a little less kept up with each time we stay. We will probably seek a different location for our next trip to Kansas City.

First, the bed, the mattress was sunken on one side and the pillows were lumpy and weird. Tried to watch TV and the TV didn’t work. Want to make a cup of coffee in your room? Think again, they use some temporary coffee pod holder that clearly isn’t made for the coffee maker. Finally, the shower, there’s barely any water pressure and the shower head is made for anyone 5’5” or shorter. Not at all a great experience. I’ll definitely look elsewhere our next trip to KC.

My husband killed a cockroach in the bathroom, we should have took heed and left but on the surface, the room appeared cleaned and efficient for 1 night. Hop in the shower no washcloths. Try to sleep and the heater was so loud we got zero sleep. Odd indian food smell throughout the hotel. Leaky toilet. Then have these bites show up. Stay away! Hotel denies the bugs btw.

We were hesitant at first but with the Expedia reviews we decided to book. We were totally happy with this property. The beds were great, the hot shower was strong, the breakfast was ok and it was great to have housekeeping each day. It really is in a great location and we will come back often.
