Sonesta Charlotte Lower South End

This was literally the trip from he** there was hairs in my shower I can tell this use to be a tan down hotel and they fixed it up good job but the area is drug infested and bums are everywhere also I had two rooms and one was fine the other had a person with dogs and they barked all day and night for the entire stay ohhh I hardly got any rest very irritated and asked for a discount or something off the rooms or something and all they offered was breakfast on them smh I will never ever stay here again I’m very disappointed

Positive: The entrance of the hotel was beautiful. Check-in was easy and the location was OK. The room is where I was highly disappointed. Negative: The room itself was not very nice. The carpet was absolutely disgusting with stains everywhere. The chair in the room was clearly old, peeling, and very outdated. The mattresses were wrapped with so many sheets, and Japanese beetles everywhere! Smelled!

We checked in and the Guest Services Manager was very nice and welcoming. However, our room was underwhelming. The chairs and carpet were dirty, and the shower was not the cleanest either. We stayed there March 3rd to March 5th 2026. After being out all day, no one cleaned our room, and we did not receive fresh towels. We had to go downstairs to request them ourselves. Also, before our checkout time of 11 a.m., room service was knocking on the door around 9 a.m., which felt a bit early while we were still preparing to leave. We are Bronze members of the Sonesta and have had a much better experience at the Hilton in Hilton Head compared to our stay in Charlotte. Overall, the staff we interacted with were kind, but the cleanliness and room service experience did not meet our expectations.

We stayed one night after missing our connection. The double queen room was spacious and quiet. Beds are really comfortable. The heating/cooling unit is rather obnoxious but it wasn't running much of the time. Staff is really friendly. Shuttle is convenient. Decent breakfast options. Large lobby with lots of chairs and couches which we enjoyed while waiting for our connection.

Decent remodel but building has some age. Really appreciated the indoor pool and weight room! Dog friendly here as well... worried me a bit when I realized this checking in. But rooms were above average for cleanliness, no smell or stains so (4 of 5).
