Solbakken Resort

We stayed overnight at Solbakken Resort on Lake Superior and had an amazing experience.. Waking up to the beautiful lakeside scenery and peaceful views was truly special. The service was excellent and the staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay... The resort also has great indoor board gaming facilities and a relaxing sauna, which made the stay even more enjoyable... Everything was clean, comfortable and well maintained. Definitely a place we would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Looking forward to coming back again!

We stayed in a suite, the front of which looked out onto Lake Superior. Sunrises and sunsets over the lake were stunning. I’m not sure if other types of rooms on site have such a view so ask if you choose to stay here and that’s important.||Unfortunately, the view and a comfortable bed were the only things for which I can give a high rating about the place. The staff was unfriendly. Our suite “decor” was pretty much bargain basement/ thrift shop furnishing—tired, worn, rundown, old and rather depressing. There was no closet and only a few tiny drawers for our belongings. Front door metal was rusted, blinds were bent, living room rug was fraying, and bathroom rug was raveling on both ends. ||I would not return here, especially given the cost/benefit ratio.

Rustic old-style Minnesota cabins within steps of Lake Superior. Cabins and quite inexpensive motel units that are large with kitchenette. Everyone gets incredible views of the lake and can hear the waves come ashore. The main building offers a comfortable place to read, play pool or board games, or just sit by the roaring fore during winter. Just minutes from Lutsen Mountain for skiers and Grand Marais for shopping and dining. The Gunflint Trail is well worth a drive and that begins in GM. Quiet and beautiful area. Our dog loves it here!

They literally cancelled our 3 day house rental while we were 4 hours into an 8 drive to ski. 8 people with no where to stay. They blamed computer problems. I’m calling BS. Horrible service. They sold the house AND the people already moved in. Inexcusable.

A fun, affordable stay for a quick getaway up north. Game room that we happend to have to ourselves for the night and a big charming christmas tree was a plus.
