Poplar River Condos at Lutsen

Luxury and Location|Sweet location situated on BOTH Lake Superior and the Poplar River. It was just two miles to Lutsen Mountains and across the street from Superior National Golf Course. The hardest part about staying here was deciding what to do first: hiking Superior National Forest trails, going for a bike ride on the Gitchi Gami State Trail, agate hunting and swimming in Superior, trout fishing at Poplar River, enjoying a meals at local restaurants, or shopping in Grand Marais. Poplar River Condos were the perfect match for comfort as we took a soak in the jetted large tubs after a great day enjoying the area, cooked yummy meals in kitchen, enjoyed board games with the kids, and day dreamt on the deck. Absolutely gorgeous area of Minnesota! My wife and I honeymooned her 20 years ago and it was spectacular! The property was wonderful. Everything is the same, including the mattresses. The room was great, except for the mattress. We could feel EVERY COIL IN THE BED, even with the mattress topper they had on it. Fail. Other than that the place is amazing, but, when you can't sleep, it makes it hard to truly enjoy your stay as much as you'd like to. They need to upgrade the mattresses immediately.

The view from the rooms is great. We had the cabins closest to the lake, with large lake-facing windows in the bedrooms. The Bluefin resort manages this property and has a large array of no-cost rentable equipment such as snow shoes, ice skates, and XC skis. The condos are close to nordic skiing trails and near enough to the lutsen downhill skiing hill. All desk employees were knowledgeable and very respectful.

Stayed here for a weekend Ski trip to Lutsen. Only about a 5 minute drive to the Gondola. Cozy setting with a great view of lake Superior.

Clean rooms and felt comfortable and inviting. No A/C was a downer. The weather was in the 70s during the day, but the rooms were sweltering without opening the windows and running the fans. This would have been okay, except it was very smokey outside. Only having one bathroom was challenging with a family of 4 as well. We knew what we signed up for though so not really any complaints, just something to think about before booking.
