Skaneateles Inn on 20

We booked two rooms (one room and one was considered an apartment) for parents weekend at Syracuse University. Clearly it is a very busy time in the area and this was the closest and really only option left by the time we made reservations. The bathrooms are dated and moldy. The bathroom towels are subpar at best (thankfully I had packed some). The fire detector in our room was missing, wires hanging out from the ceiling, which is a MAJOR issue. We were not in the room much, so I didn’t notice this until night two. When we were checking out, no one was in the office to report this. So I called the next day and the manager — instead of taking any responsibility — said I should have reported it sooner. How about doing a through check of rooms to prevent major safety issues? They tell you not to drink the tap water but don’t say why, then ask you to pay a dollar per bottle of water. Dozens of small things need fixing that would’ve been cheap and easy to do, and make a world of difference: paint, doorknobs, fixing outside patio chairs, etc. A good option if you want to save money and good location to town. Nice that they have a pool and a beautiful big back yard for stargazing.

They are really trying hard to upgrade an obviously older and dated motel. Remodeling work not great ... We stayed in a suite with kitchenette and living room which was in the back of the property which makes road noise less of an issue. Very good for a pet,large yard . Major plus,the full sized coffee maker. Major minus,water pressure iffy in the shower. Close to an expensive tourist town ,way more affordable than in town Got a call to confirm arrival,desk immediately responded to out request for more towels.

Older roadside motel with some updates, like vinyl plank flooring. Nice pool is roadside. Close to town. Doing a good job cleaning. The plumbing has issues which may be difficult for them to correct. For instance, when you flush the toilet, there is no hot water in the sink until the toilet tank fills. The shower pressure wasn't very good either. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable - so alot of tossing and turning kept us from getting a good sleep. But I doubt we could do better for the price. We'd probably stay one night again when we're passing through if needed.

It's like staying at a motel in the 50's. Clean. Bathroom 50's pink. Bathroom looks very worn. Had to climb on the bed to put on the air-conditioner. Suggest a handle to get out of the tub for us older crowd. Great price for the area. It was convenient and quiet.
