Inn at the Finger Lakes

I have stayed at this hotel a few times over the years and at the start, it was a nice place to stay. But, now it's really different. When we arrived, we had to check in at a kiosk at the front door where we were checked for ID, a photo of my Visa card was taken and an additional $100 security charge was applied to the card before we were given our room keys which would also unlock the front door. There was no one at the front desk which is only staffed from 7 AM to noon. Since Covid, they no longer have a breakfast and the room was a bit run down . We were on the first floor and the lock on the sliding window was broken so it couldn't be locked. Being in a downtown area and a prison located a few blocks away, this had me concerned. Do not book this hotel. We checked in and were met with an exterminator and 2 people coming off the elevator wreaking of weed. We stayed here multiple times back in the day (15 years ago) under amazing management, Friday and Saturday night welcome receptions with free local wine, beer and snacks. This place has gone completely down hill. We had booked through a 3rd party (non refundable) but decided to leave same night and book a much more reputable place (same rate) just 20 min away. So disappointing because the town is so charming with amazing restaurants. Will never be back.

Our experience with the Inn was okay. I didn't pay for the room so I can't speak to value but the room was quite underwhelming for today's hotel environment. It had been a long time since I have stayed at a hotel that had a timed heat lamp on the ceiling but there it was. The TV wasn't fully operational from the remote. Only 3 pillows per queen bed. Yes, we could asked for more but I feel like 4 pillows to start per bed is reasonable. Thankfully we weren't close to the elevator because that thing was loud whenever the door opened or closed. The bed was relatively comfortable, despite the lack of pillows and the location was perfect for us. Employees were attentive the couple times we needed assistance and quickly resolved our requests. Positive: The beds were clean Negative: Seems like there's zero security (other than the doors being locked). There was only a couple staff at night. The bathroom garbage wasn't taken out in our room. The ice bucket was not cleaned. Not enough towels and washcloths for 3 people.

The automated kiosk to check in and seeming lack of onsite staff is discomfiting. The room smell strongly of urine. We only made it three feet into the room. Refund was expedient.
