Residence Inn by Marriott Somerset

I think people who left negative reviews were way harsh. I was actually kinda nervous that I was going to walk in and turn around to leave having to then find another place to stay, but it was totally fine! And I am easily skeeved, so really it was fine. Was the furniture a little worn? yeah, but when you're staying at a hotel you should assume all the furniture is "ick" even if it visually looks "nice" ...think about what happens in hotel rooms. Anyway, some scuffs and worn couch spots easily remedied with a blanket over the couch (which I would have done anyway even staying in a hotel like the Peninsula etc) We were in town for the Pet Expo in Edison and it was a perfect landing spot. I really enjoyed my stay at the Residence Inn Somerset. From the friendly greeting at check in to my day of check out. Beautifully decorated and very clean. The room was lemony fresh upon entering and the bed was super comfortable. My kids enjoyed the pool and the little lounge area attached to the pool room. The breakfast was so good (I'm surprised), not the typical "Continental" style breakfast (the spicy sausages were delicious). The lady that was working in the breakfast area was a breath of fresh air, so friendly, professional and welcoming, she went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was ok and she was very attentive. We had an amazing time at the Residence Inn by Marriott Somerset!||We booked room 403, which was a spacious 2-bedroom suite with two queen-sized beds. It was absolutely wonderful!||When we arrived at the hotel, we checked in and a friendly lady explained the breakfast schedule and the nearby attractions. ||Our room was even more spacious than we thought, with a large kitchen, a cozy living area, and incredibly comfortable queen size beds.||The breakfast was a delightful surprise! |There was a wide variety of delicious food, including scrambled eggs, waffles, and sausages. I had a stay here over the weekend. I was overcharged & the manager proceeded to be extremely rude & nasty. She did not care that I was over charged. She only cared about me being upset with the charges. I initially had a reservation at Delta. Which I should’ve kept. I do not recommend staying at this location. Unless you want to be over charged & talked to any kind of way. If you’re going to be nasty, at least make sure the rooms are decent & up to Marriott standard.

Stayed here the weekend of Thanksgiving, 2025. Got the two room suite. Upon walking in, the chairs at the dinner table looked like they were destroyed by cats clawing them! The room was somewhat clean; the doors to the bathrooms didn't exactly close flush against the door frames. Breakfast wasn't spectacular; availability is shorter on weekdays than weekends, so take note of the hours. There's also diners near by. Filed a complaint with the desk attendant and he said he would "forward on to manager", but noted to me that they are due a renovation, whenever that is. There are better Marriott properties within a stone's throw distance of this place. I would avoid, if possible.
