Residence Inn by Marriott Portland Downtown/RiverPlace

The hotel was amazing! It was really good. The WiFi was not fast but 30 megabits per second is good. The Marriott Smart TV is good with YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video in it. The kitchen was small but with a stove top and dishwasher and surprisingly a toaster hidden (I think someone left it there since it was dirty). The pool was good with a heated pool and a medium sized normal pool with height ranging from 3-5 fts. Breakfast there is good! But there WAS NO BREAD. There were bagels and muffins but 0 breads! I was there Saturday and Sunday and there were no breads! The Phone key is a hit or miss. It works sometimes and fails the other. Their app was bugging a lot. The physical key got unlinked from the room the second night.

Positive: Hotel employee was so kind. She made our stay amazing. She loved our dog and I think the feeling was mutual! Negative: Cleaning was sometimes hard to schedule. Unlike perhaps others at the hotel, we needed to be working during the day (WFH style) and needed the cleaning to be scheduled and on time - otherwise it was disruptive to need to exit the room.

First time at this residence inn for two nights but I have stayed at others across the US. Initial impressions upon arriving is this is a noisy area next to a freeway but it was quiet inside. Another couple mentioned a low hum of traffic as their room faced the freeway. Our room faced away and we could not hear the traffic. Location is next to the river walk and convenient light rail station which was easy to navigate and use. Use your phone to tap and pay either at the station or on the train. Look up Portland Max Light Rail service and you'll save a ton of money in taxi fare. Or you can take a nice walk about 1.5miles to downtown along the river. ||We had friendly and efficient check in and helpful check out. We were in Portland for medical appointments at OHSU, and the location of the Residence Inn was perfect- about a ten minute walk from the hotel to the lower half of OHSU's campus and the gondola stop. There is also bus service to campus for folks with mobility issues. There is a discount available to guests with appointments at OHSU- so be sure to mention that during booking. The Inn was also convenient to reach from the airport by transit- we took the train in and only had to transfer once to a city bus (the trip took about an hour total). Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself had a fairly intense disagreeable odor in the hallways (minus one star), but the room itself was fine. Great hotel at a great price. Hot tub is hot and pool is cool. Great place to stay also if you have a family member or loved one in ohsu. They give a discount for that and are very supportive and welcoming. 10/10 would recommend.
