Residence Inn by Marriott Newark Elizabeth/Liberty International Airport

The only positive thing about this hotel is its proximity to Newark Airport. Beyond that, there is very little to recommend. The place has the charm of a roadside hourly motel. The welcome at the reception was indifferent and unmotivated. The entire property feels extremely dated and it is obvious that little to no investment has been made in years. The hallways are dark and the distances long. My room looked as if it had been furnished with whatever was left over at the last bulk trash pickup. The furniture and decorations – including the random pictures on the walls – do not match at all. Everything feels worn out, some things are partly broken, such as the sliding door of the closet. I just needed a place to lay my head before catching my flight the next morning and assumed (wrongly) that this place would be satisfactory since it was a Marriott property. I didn’t need luxury — just a clean place to sleep for one night. It was very run down and the carpets were stained and ripped. One of the lights in the bathroom area did not work, and the room temperature control did not work. The best part was proximity to the airport and the shuttle which got me to the airport on time for my flight. I would not stay here again.

Positive: "" Negative: Room was Dirty, had black mold coming from the air vents in room. Definitely not worth the price we paid. Hotel staff at Check in was not friendly. After we checked out I had to call cause I have random charges on my credit card that aren't mine.

Best reception service we have ever received at any hotel, provided by Hotel Manager Brooke! She was welcoming, genuinely friendly, and very receptive to our questions and needs. Brooke looked after every detail, outlined services without us having to ask, and really made us feel like we were her only priority. So great to be treated so well after a long day on the road! What an exceptional person! A clean, comfortable, convenient stay with high standards and a very good complimentary breakfast. A three minute walk to a large shopping mall.

Cockroach in room 614 on December 8, 2025 night. Concierge suggested a new room, and said nothing can be done, no manager on site…no comps nothing. She said I have to go back to the airport and talk to someone there..I spoke to someone on the phone to get the voucher as the united desk told me to call. She was happily recommending I take the shuttle now and tried to shoe me away. Later she said only members get perks so I signed up and she said pre-existing members only. I said so if I was a member what would I get for having a cockroach in my room?! I asked another guest if he had a cockroach in his room and he said no and I think in my opinion she got irritated with that. She said I was looking for an argument after I let her know that I noticed she was nicer to other guests checking the
