Courtyard by Marriott Newark Elizabeth

The room was clean and spacious and the staff were great. My only issue is the parking. It’s ~$30/night after tax but most of the time there was not a single spot open. They sell parking to non-guests so there aren’t enough spots for paying guests. Either make parking free or limit sales to third parties. We had to park at a neighboring hotel 3 out of 4 nights.

Dear Courtyard Marriott Elizabeth Management, I am writing to formally complain about a very unpleasant and unacceptable experience during my recent stay at Courtyard Marriott Elizabeth. I was assigned to room 615, where the air conditioning/heating system was not working, despite the outside temperature being approximately -20°C. After 16 hours of traveling, I checked in exhausted and was forced to stay in a freezing room. I contacted the front desk, and maintenance arrived after approximately 45 minutes. After working on the unit, the maintenance staff confirmed that the A/C was not functioning and informed me that I would need to change rooms. The hotel was well cared for and the staff was really nice. The rooms were comfortable. We opted to stay here and take day trips to NY since staying the city is expensive and stressful. The parking here felt safe and abundant. They have food on site which is nice as well got in late and needed a bite before bed. They even had gluten free food options. The only knock on the hotel is the location. The location is surrounded by busy and confusing streets. The neighborhood stores didn’t feel particularly safe. And being so close to the airport the planes fly directly over the hotel which is super loud. But I can’t fault them for that since we saw the location and still booked it.||I’d easily stay again. Spent only one night here but was able to get in on time to watch super bowl. The gastrobar had $1 off beers and the food exceeded my expectations. So good start there. The room was up to date with a modern feel, which I enjoyed. The next day we checked out early morning around 7am but we knew we had af few appointments to make and did not want to carry our luggage all day with us. The hotel staff was very kind and had no issues holding our bag until we were done with our visits. We then returned to the hotel around 4pm and used the lobby to finish up some business emails. Was able to enjoy a coffee and once again great hospitality by the staff. Successful trip and stay.

I had a short layover here, checking around 02.00 am in the morning, so I need to sleep in as much as I can do. However, my room 219 was just across from the cleaning and laundry room. Therefore, hotel staff kept coming in and out doing their jobs, including having small talks very loudly anytime they met. At this point, I don’t mean to complain the overall hotel but don’t book and stay at my previous room 219 if you need enough rest and you need to work related to the safety of other people.
