Red Roof Inn Benton Harbor - St Joseph

This place was gross. It was an inexpensive room so we had set our expectations accordingly, we should have set them lower. First off there was a winter storm going on and there had been absolutely no attempt to plow or shovel anything. We had to choose our parking spot between the drifts of snow. We also noticed that there were several rooms that had snow drifts up against the doors. When we checked into the first room, the thing that jumped out to us immediately was that there was only a top sheet on the bed, no comforter, no blankets, no nothing. Then we noticed that there was grease or some kind of other dirt on one of the pillowcases. Next, we began to see that there was crumbs and other debris on top of the heater, in the chair, and then in the dresser drawers. I'm talking A LOT

Reserved two rooms for one night. I booked this room in early July for a July 12th arrival. I was asked to pay for the rooms upfront, which I found unusual, but agreed to do that. My husband and I were Traveling with my daughter and her family. Arrived at 11:00 pm to find out someone cancelled one room. Clerk was not helpful at all and stated they were booked full. We were attending a Lacrosse tournament and had to get up early for a game. I gave the room we had to them and my husband and I drove 1 1/2 hours home at 11:30 pm. Daughter send me pictures of her room -- toothpaste spit in the bathroom sink, floor around the toilet was black, could not shower as the tub was dirty, the floors were dirty, the room smelled like smoke. Positive: It was close to planet fitness where I had to shower since the bathroom in the room was DISGUSTING ! Negative: Everything. Especially the riff raff lurking around the property.

Horrible!!!! It was good because it’s cheap but the way they don’t clean is pathetic!! The covers be dirty, no towels. Fixtures coming out the wall. I have videos so I can’t post them because it’s only photos. To say you can’t accommodate me and black listed my name because of third party (booked over 8 times btw) chargeback. I paid on my end every time. This place is has horrible WiFi and don’t be surprised if the shower head doesn’t work properly or the light over the sink and a few bugs here and there. Oh yeah the microwave had a full plate in there with mold on it!!! I can go on and on. AVOID THIS PLACE

I had stayed at this location several times many years ago and it was clean, organized and just wonderful! So of course I thought I would receive the same service this trip. It was awful! Absolutely no room service. When I inquired I was told several times I had to wait for towels and bed linen, due to everything needed to be washed. The hotel looks abandoned and absolutely no upkeep. I had to buy raid for the roaches in my room.
