Best Western Benton Harbor-St. Joseph

I recently stayed at the Best Western in Benton Harbor, MI, and I was honestly surprised—in the best way possible. Based on the price I paid, I wasn’t expecting much, but the experience completely exceeded my expectations. The room was great: very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. You could immediately tell that cleanliness is a priority here. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout my stay, always willing to assist and clearly focused on making guests feel welcome. I also really enjoyed the pool and hot tubs, which were both very clean and well kept—something that’s not always the case at hotels, so it definitely stood out. Positive: Location near other stores and restaurants, as well as beaches. Indoor/outdoor pool was great and room was pretty good size. Negative: Breakfast food selection was okay, but not enough seating and worker had difficulty keeping items stocked. Bathroom was not ventilated well and always warm and musty.

The hotel was very nice and enjoyable! Would recommend it. The beach was a nice retreat and pleasant! That sums it up! Goodbye!

The room was comfortable and what you’d expect from an average hotel. The room and linens felt clean, but some towels had some visible stains. The hot tub was unfortunately dirty- the bubbles from the jets were turning brown and there were some hair clumps in there as well. The indoor pool was very cold. Overall fine if you’re looking for a place to crash for a night right off I-94.

I stayed at this Best Western location in May 2025, and the experience left a lasting impression. The gentleman (Leonard?) running the breakfast buffet knows exactly what he’s doing and provides quality service. I found this breakfast buffet to be superior to those at Hilton and Marriott. The front-desk clerks were friendly, and my room was clean. Best Western surprised me!! Nothing beats truly competent staff!
