Hilton Garden Inn Benton Harbor / St. Joseph

I was there for a work meeting so I was just in the conference room but walking in I could see and smell how clean the lobby and restaurant areas were so I was very impressed. The whole atmosphere was very inviting and comfortable which is also a huge plus in my book. It's been years since I've stayed in a room but if they are still anything like the rest of the common areas then they are perfection. Highly recommend!

Bad! I really do not believe there was a manager at all. Absolutely NO hospitality. The rooms are dingy and outdated. Fitted sheet was put on upside down and was too little. The complimentary breakfast had NO coffee. We could pay $4.00 for a cup of Keurig coffee. Really? The entire breakfast was a circus. What hotel chain doesn’t offer complimentary coffee? Does Hilton Garden Inn know how poorly this one is ran?

Positive: Although it was during the holiday, the expectation is to have your rooms cleaned, an option for food and the bar. The hotel offered non of the advertised amenities during our stay. Including being told we couldn’t have our rooms cleaned. Negative: No cleaning staff, kitchen closed, no bar service.

Rolled in at about 1:30 in the morning due to a brutal snow storm, we were very much welcomed with open arms. The front desk attendant was extremely kind, welcoming, and attentive, despite us interrupting her tasks. The room was also very nice and clean for the price.

The hotel was clean, and the staff was very friendly. However, our server/cook at the restaurant on Saturday night, December 20, 2025, was higher than a kite. The whole lobby smelled of marijuana. We had ordered some shrimp as an appetizer. While it looked amazing on the outside, it was raw, semi-transparent, and mushy on the inside. Our family will be lucky if we don't get food poisoning. We had also planned on ordering breakfast the following morning, as we had paid for it with our room. However, nobody decided to show up for work. So the only options were stale bread, peanut butter, and coffee. Not happy. Expected more from Hilton. 😞
