Red Lion Hotel Redding

Very friendly service. They keep things quite clean. Stayed for two nights and had a comfortable time. Lobby was accommodating and whole place smelled nice. For the price, it was exemplary. Quiet too. If I had to say anything bad, it would probably be the lack of a fan in the restrooms. But outside that, very great.

Oh boy... The room I was in got to 81 degrees because there was NO AC despite being advertised as having AC. We were given a dusty and dirty fan by the very dismissive mechanic who even said "It's hot in here..?" As I was actively growing more nauseous from it. Stayed one night then left for the Super8 down the road which was so very much better. My husband got so sick from the heat he was throwing up, which is why we opted to leave this horrid hotel.

The most severe complaint I have is that the door entrance on the backside of hotel nearest the gas station doesn't click shut, STAY SECURED!!! This hotel doesn't have an elevator and when you book the stay there isn't any indication of this!!! You can open the door without the entree card!!!! This is unsafe. The room was quiet, except for the heater/air conditioning unit. There isn't a fan in the bathroom. Also it is dark and has a musty odor. I decided after at least 4 stays at this hotel that I will no longer stay here.

Positive: We were not sure what to expect really. But ended up really liking this hotel. It was clean around and felt safe. Its like a little gated community. Negative: There was not an elevator for wheelchair accessibility. However they were able to accommodate us with a first floor room.

The positive: rooms are large, and appear to be slowly being upgraded (bathroom and flooring in the room). The pool area is nice.||The downside: entire property smells musty, and is dated. Breakfast was average hotel hot breakfast for $7 a person. The beds are on wheels, so if you're sitting up in the bed, the whole bed will roll away from the wall. Our bathroom smelled like urine upon arriving--had it not been so late after a long day we would have made a fuss, but we were only there for one night. This property is sadly below average for the area, there are better hotels in Redding for the price.
