Ramada by Wyndham Tampa Westshore

We traveled during the winter holidays and stayed at this hotel. We wanted to leave a lasting impression. The building itself and the lobby look nice, but the further you go, the sadder it gets. We were given a room with a broken light. Luckily, it was quickly fixed. The room's appearance is fine for an overnight stay, even with family (if you're not too picky). The furniture and walls are a bit tired. But there were no bugs or obvious dirty items in the room. We had breakfast included, and the food options were fine. However, the tables where the breakfast items were kept and the areas where people had sat were very dirty. No one cleaned up. The price was good. Also, there was a heated pool and a gym (although not all the machines were working).

It started with check-in. We arrived at 0915 from our cruise. Requested an early check-in. Was told the room would not be ready until 1500, usual check-in. So basically had to kill 6 hours walking around the area. Malls didn't open until 1100 because it was Sunday. Huge line up for check-in with only one person at the desk. Got to our room and it was freezing. Was already a cool day (12 F). No matter what buttons we pushed, only cool air blew. Called and got maintenance to come up. Very polite guy, but didn't do anything to attempt to repair. Offered us a space heater, which ended up working very well. After being in our room for a while, realized our feet were black; floors were filthy. Went to wash our feet in the tub, found a fair amount of mold on the tiles, lots of chipped enam

Positive: The pric e was very acceptable. Negative: I thought it might be a bit above simple. It was a very plain room. Nothing warm and inviting about it. I guess in comparison to the average costs, tghis was much below and thus the quality goes with the economic s.

Rooms are large and clean. No bugs! Plenty of hot water. Good AC. Laundry facilities near ice maker. Coffee is better than what was served on the cruise we took a few days ago.Good continental breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Great for a pre or post cruise stay before heading to the airport.

For the price, it was better than we expected. ~$90 a night, right next to the airport, comfortable beds, good ac, mini fridge, tv worked fine, maintenance was quick to help with an issue, and polite staff. All the bases covered for a good budget hotel. It is a little dated, they seem to be struggling to keep up on some maintenance, but its just along the lines of paint touch up. Great value, would stay again.
