Quality Inn Taos

Fine stay but not without issues. Our pre-paid reservation got cancelled due to us arriving at 2 am after flight delays. Even though there is 24/7 reception apparently you cannot arrive that late. We had to pay for a new booking upon arrival and didn’t get any money back. Front desk was very unhelpful claiming they need the manager but the manager is not there at the time they told us to come back. Cook closed breakfast before the posted end time. Cleaning crew never came and we stayed for 3 nights. Walls were extremely thin and room was bright at night due to streetlights. Facilities are outdated but usable. Room smelled a bit.

Hotel prices in Taos seem to be high, especially considering (a) we were there in the winter season, and (b) most of the hotels have outdoor pools. This Quality Inn was one of the less expensive hotels and it fit the price. It is an old property that is conscientiously, if not expensively, maintained. Being older, there was a clear lack of electrical plug-ins in the room and surface space in the bathroom. But the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were air hockey and pool tables in the lobby area. I'm not big on free hotel breakfasts, but this one seemed as extensive as any with hot and cold items.

This is a clean, safe, quiet budget motel located at the edge of town. The beds were comfortable and everything worked as it should. I asked that a slow drain be cleared and it was taken care of the same day. The check in clerk was incredibly efficient, multi-tasking as she checked in two of us at once and she was very gracious about giving us adjoining rooms. The breakfast attendant was very attentive. It was busy but she made sure that hot food was hot and items were continuously available. Very pleasant stay.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast that was served had the usual fare, i.e., waffles, cereal, etc., but it went beyond what I expected. There were delicious scrambled eggs, potato patties, sausage, and chili for the eggs. Fruit even included kiwi. I am missing my breakfasts right now; they were so satisfying. The location of the hotel was convenient to downtown Taos and the conference I was attending. I enjoyed my stay at the Quality Inn and told others at the conference about my stay there. I recommend it highly to any travelers.

The best thing about this hotel was the young lady that worked the afternoon evening shift. I wish I would have gotten her name but she was amazing and that's about where the good ended. The room was moderately cleaned, but not clean. The bed was very uncomfortable, the walls were thin and you could hear people talking on both sides. For some reason we were given a handicap room which was fine but unnecessary and I feel certain I didn't reserve one. I used rewards points for the room but even that was too much. This hotel is old and in poor condition. There's potential for a very cool retro vibe place but its poorly run and poorly maintained. We will never stay here again. I can't see it ever getting better. Overall just a bad experience. Even on check out the young man was too busy and co
