Casa Gallina

This is my second stay at Casa Gallina, first was in the summer and this one in the winter. Though the grass was browner, the trees had bare arms, and patches of snow replaced the flowers, this was still a beautiful visit that replenished my soul.||Very few places would I revisit just to see in another season, but looking beyond retouched images and advertised vacations gives you a unique experience that's hard to describe. It's quieter dining in town and colder looking at night stars. You'll probably even feel more like a local, especially if you take Richard's recommendations of where to eat a burrito or get a drink in the "treehouse."||That said, no matter what season, I highly recommend a stay at Casa Gallina.

First a beautiful drive up if you take the route near Las Vegas NM. Secondly, beautiful grounds with views, gardens, and happy chickens. Thirdly, well-appointed rooms and suites with art, tapestry, tiles and all the amenities—a full kitchen, bath, a rocker on a porch. Quiet, peaceful. The kind owner and service an additional plus. I was there for a writers’ retreat. A retreat. Perfect.

Casa Gallina was the absolute perfect spot for our writers retreat. The setting is so scrumptious and peaceful, and we had plenty of opportunities for quiet inspiration. Plus, Richard is the most generous and kind host you could ever ask for. He made sure we were all comfortable and taken care of, whether in the private casita or one of the multi-bedroom ones. The rest of Taos was easy to access with a short drive, and we got to enjoy being tucked away in a little piece of heaven. Our biggest thanks to everyone at Casa Gallina.

This is our second stay at Casa Gallina, and it once again made me wish we could stay forever! The casitas are absolutely beautiful, and the setting is so peaceful. Richard is an amazingly kind and thoughtful host, and "the girls" are so fun and make it even more of a unique experience.

I have lost count on the number of times we have stayed at Casa Gallina....at least a dozen or more. Each time, we still feel like it is coming HOME. Every feature provides a welcome sight....and every sight gives you a peace within. In the past we have introduced Casa Gallina to our grown children and now they call it a second home. From the calming features in each room to the landscaping, to the chickens, to the host, Richard, we treasure each. I especially enjoy having coffee under the weeping willow tree in front or having coffee by the dining table with views of the yard and property. Each of our visits has allowed us to meet others on the same search for|a peacful place and they all rave about their great trips here.
