La Doña Luz Inn

If you are planning a visit to Taos you must consider a stay at LA Dona Luz Inn. This historic bed and breakfast has been developed and overseen by Paul, "Paco",Castillo for over 30 years. It is a mere block and half from the main Plaza and within walking distance of galleries,restaurants and several museums. Leave your car(free) at the Inn and enjoy walking to places in town. The Inn itself is magical. Each of the 8 rooms is like living in a museum filled with antique weavings.pueblo pottery,carved Katsinas and paintings from New Mexico artists. Corner fireplaces in most rooms are ready for cold winters. The rooms open either to a geranium- filled courtyard or rooftop views of the city,mountains and sky. The kitchen displays brightly painted folk art on cabinets,as do many of the doors

Delightful, artistic inn. Excellent location and hospitality. Exceptional host. Our stay of two nights for three couples was memorable for the art displayed and the conversations we enjoyed with Paco, the owner and knowledgeable, long time Taos resident.

Paco and staff were very welcoming, friendly, and made us feel at home. La Dona Luz could not have been a better choice for us. My husband and I were in Taos for 5 nights and the location was ideal because we could walk to any restaurant we wanted. The breakfast on the weekend was huevos rancheros homemade by the staff. We loved it and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Having spent many of the last 50 years living and working overseas, I have spent many many nights lodging in hotels, inns, and bed and breakfasts. I must say, though, that none has been more pleasant than our recent three-night stay at Taos' Dona Luz Inn. Owner and ever-present host Paco Martinez has put his life and love into making the Dona Luz Inn's attractive, varying rooms (we stayed in the La Luz room at the tippy top of a spiral staircase), common areas and weekend New Mexican breakfasts an excellent choice to experience the Taos vibe. The Dona Luz Inn is located a short walk from the main plaza, excellent restaurants and many of Taos' many art galleries, museums and historic homes. I cannot recommend the Dona Luz Inn higher for your stay in Taos.

Five stars all around. Paco is so friendly and a wealth of knowledge on everything Taos-related. My brother, mom, and I were on a 10 day road trip around NM and La Dona Luz was our favorite place we stayed; we all wished we had spent more time there. The home is beautiful and we loved the art, the woodwork, and just walking around looking at all the beautiful pieces. Would stay again in a heartbeat and recommend to all.
