Mabel Dodge Luhan House

The location is great, close to downtown Taos. The breakfasts were delicious (kudos to the kitchen staff!) and plentiful. The main building was very interesting and clean. Nice common areas. Very quiet. |We stayed in the gatehouse cottage and adobe buildingjust across the courtyard from the main house. Quaint accommodation. Our bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room for us to spread out with our suitcases. We liked the old tile in the kitchen and bathrooms. ||We realize this place is historic, but they need to do some maintenance: |- I went to charge my phone and the switch plate cover was missing (a safety hazard).|- A lightbulb was missing in bathroom light.|- One lamp cord looked so old it really should be rewired; we didn't use it.|- Curtains in most rooms are too narrow for

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in this beautiful bed and breakfast hotel. The staff were friendly and the accommodations perfect. No fridge, tv or wifi in the rooms which didnt bother us at all but a heads up if your planning to stay here.

There may be no more notable place to stay in Taos than the Mabel Lodge Luhan House which has hosted many famous folk in its storied history. That's because its longtime owner, a former New York City heiress, was the controversial Taos hostess |who drew a cast of artistic all-stars as her guests, from Greta Garbo to Georgia O'Keefe to Ansel Adams to Carl Jung.|This place even survived, after Mabel's death, a period when it was owned by Dennis Hopper who wrote the screenplay for "Easy Rider" in one of its rooms. Loved this place. They have taken such care to decorate the rooms tastefully and the common areas are really beautiful. Everywhere you can see that the staff care. ||Breakfast was great and coffee very drinkable.||So the single beds in the gate lodge were a bit creaky and the shower is tiny but it didn’t matter, the cottage is so lovely.

I stayed here for a workshop. The food is all homemade and spectacular, not gourmet but heart healthy and delicious. They really pay attention to your dietary requirements. The rooms are nicely appointed. The place I stayed was dark with lots of spiders. I’m not fond of them and wished my room was cleaner. The beds were always freshly made with fresh towels for the bathroom. I found the vacuum and used it in our space. I wished the mold on the grout was attended to in the bathroom but it seemed like it wasn’t a priority. I kept laying down a towel on the floor as there was a nail sticking out. I told the groundskeeper about our outside light not working and the screens were ripped but again not a high priority. The classroom and yoga studio were wonderful spaces. Be aware that the stones i
