Quality Inn & Suites Houghton Downtown

Upon arrival, I was actually impressed. The location looked beautiful from the outside, and the lobby was very clean and welcoming. Unfortunately, once we got to the room, the nightmare began. The room was filthy and smelled like old, wet carpet. The bathtub had multiple stains and looked disgusting, and there was dust everywhere.Even with all of this, I tried to tolerate it since we were only staying one night. However, once I got on the bed, it was clear how old and uncomfortable it was. The entire middle was sunken in, making it almost impossible to sleep, and I woke up with neck and back pain. I even had to remove the bedsheets because they did not appear clean.I do not like to complain, but for the amount I paid, this experience was extremely disappointing. Even the complimentary brea

Interesting hotel.. I mean this in the least complimentary way. You have NO parking. You put people on the 5th floor with less than 10 available parking spots. Let's not forget the elevator only goes to the third floor. You also have to walk across the limited parking lot to get to the elevator. The room... This is a suite?? It's old, it was a former smoking room. The heater/AC unit is moldy. The beds are both worn out as in they both drop in the middle. The shower floor is slimy because the drain barely drains. The water pressure is non-existent. The door itself has been broke before as the frame is all busted and screwed together. Very thin walls, (you can hear everything in the hall as well as the stairs) What's up with no garbage bags in the two cans in the room? This room was booked a

Positive: The location. Also, I like the sprawling layout. For a maintenence worker I bet this hotel is a challenge! Negative: For the price we paid we expected more. Paid a LOT for a "suite", and it was pretty much a normal hotel room with a couch. Mybe I should have expected less, but for the $$$?

We chose this hotel based on pricing at the time of our visit as well as proximity to Michigan Tech for a college visit. The front desk person when we checked in on Jan 19th was very helpful. She gave us information on local places still open for food and was very personable. The setup of this hotel was very interesting and caught our attention because it looked unique. Room was clean. Plenty of towels. Breakfast was very good, laid out well with more options than we expected which was a nice surprise.

The rooms were a bit dated and the mattress was very indented from other people sleeping on it. The hotel itself is 2 motels that were joined together to make one, so it's a little confusing to walk through, lots of stairs, and the walls are very thin. We could hear our neighbors conversations clearly. But the view from our room was great, as was the location! The 4th and 5th floors definitely have the best views, the lower levels just look out into the hallway. The staff were all very friendly and helpful when we needed it.
