Quality Inn Schenectady - Albany

I'll preface this review with saying that I am not a difficult person to please, have a pretty high tolerance for small issues and had very realistic expectations going into a stay at this hotel. I wasn't expecting the Hilton, didn't expect things to be top notch.||I'll cut to the chase - Don't stay here unless cigarette burns on the bedsheets are acceptable to you. I was told I should have asked housekeeping to come change the bed (perhaps housekeeping should have caught that in the first place?), however, this was not an option since it was discovered once I already had a sleeping child in the bed next to mine. I've requested a refund for our room and the hotel will redeem itself greatly if it actually grants it. I was told my issue would be sent to their "refund department but it's not

Hotel room was clean and orderly, provided all of the basics. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Rooms were a bit dated, and there is no elevator to the second floor. I was given a room on the first floor, but if no room had been available on the first, it would have been difficult to access the second floor dept with luggage. Could hear noise from hallway, but I always carry earplugs. For the price, room was a good value.

I stayed here over the weekend in room 210, when I say if you’re black you may want to rethink staying here. The housekeepers are racist and rude! In particular a skinny white housekeeper knocked on my door on Saturday and when I open the door she was in pure disbelief I asked her for clean towels and fresh sheets on my bed, she quickly became agitated an refused to finish my bed stating that she had a lot on her plate. She left my room door, propped open with my dirty towels and went downstairs. My instance told me to get up and go to the front desk so I can report this incident and get someone else to come in and complete the task as I approached the front desk the other woman at the front desk was in the back speaking into the housekeeper, and I heard them the housekeeper, stating that

The hotel was relatively clean. The ice machine on the first floor intermittently was not working, bathroom floors/walls could have used a good cleaning and the room and hallway carpets were in need of an update! Staff was nice and rooms pretty clean, sheets on bed smelled clean. With some new carpet and slightly better quality food it would be a great spot to stay.

On our trip to TN we needed a pre-mid stop, tried Comfort Inn and it was full so the representative recommended this sister hotel. Upon pulling in, I do have to say I was upset that there was not a porte-cochère and had to unpack in the rain. BUT, we were greeted by a wonderful staff member; she was cheerful and very helpful. Once entering the room, we were surprised how large it was. When figuring out which buttons to hit to turn the lights on, and finally did so, it was a bit grungy; curtains had a brown tint, walls could use a scrub down. But, the linens were clean and the shower water is hot! For such a large room, the dated small TV was not fit and the remote control did not work and had duct tape on it.
