Hampton Inn Schenectady Downtown

The location is amazing, free parking, hot tub, free breakfast and walking distance to all the great shops and restaurants. The front desk was rude, one key stopped working, they fixed it but the next day it stopped working again, fortunately, my husband's app opens the door but when he was away, the key cards were very unreliable. We stay here annually and they changed their policy now to only cleaning the rooms every other day - they never told us upon check in so I asked why my room wasn't cleaned and front desk rudely said she would have someone clean and nobody every came nor did they come the next day, finally the 3rd night of our 4 night stay, they cleaned sometime late in the afternoon and it was dirtier than we left it. crumbs everywhere and streaks on the desk from having dinner

Positive: We were performing at Proctors next door and it was a very short walk. Negative: The General Manager is crazy and controlling. I had been trying to get a group rate for 2 weeks. I left several messages with the front desk. Sent emails and had my travel company send several inquiries. No response. I have more to say, out of characters.

Newly renovated rooms are clean and nice. Other members of the party weren’t so lucky, with tubs not draining at all ending up with shin high water after a shower. Sink doesn’t drain very well, with one person waking up to an almost overfilling sink. Other member tried door key 3 times before having to be moved to another room due to the door knob not working. Sink/bathroom member asked to be moved to another room which they didn’t have any available due to various maintenance issues. Front door “frozen” shut had to be opened by hand yet as soon as it cracked it opened on its own. Breakfast was nice, normal hotel breakfast. Lobby area is nice and well appointed. Parking was a nightmare due to renovation equipment parked all over, one member being trapped in by a maintenance persons vehicle

One of the nicest Hamptons I've stayed at. Its clear management really tries to create a great guest experience and it shined. Two people really made the experience great, Nicole at check in and The woman with glasses who did the breakfast, which by the way tasted like it came out of someone's kitchen. They made walking into the hotel and coming into breakfast as if you were being welcomed into someones home. The pool area was another highlight, perfect temperature and spotless, definitely one of the better kept pools ive used in a hotel. Overall just a really nice hotel. The only recommendation I would make is that the institutional beige and cream are out of style, some crisp bright paint would really make spaces in this hotel pop!

As we were driving to New Hampshire for Christmas, we got caught in a terrible blizzard and needed a place to stay for the night with our dog. We called the Hampton Inn while on the road, and they got us booked right away. From the moment we arrived until we left, all the staff were so kind and accommodating (especially with our dog)! The room was big, clean, and very comfortable. We haven't stopped thinking about how nice our stay was - we hope to return under better circumstances!
