The Stockade Inn

⸻ Our stay at Stockade Inn was nothing short of magical. We spent two nights here for a weekend trip, and it turned into one of the most meaningful experiences of our lives—my fiancé proposed during our stay. What made it even more special was how genuinely celebrated we felt afterward. The owner, John Samutulski, personally congratulated us, which meant more than I can put into words. The Inn doesn’t feel like a hotel at all—it feels like a home. Cozy, warm, and welcoming in every sense. The history of the building is absolutely stunning and adds such a unique charm to the entire experience. You can feel the character and care in every detail. This was the perfect place for me to stay. I was right in the historic district where I was doing research on an ancestor. The Inn looks like it could have one time been someone's stately home with beautiful architectural details inside and out. There is a coffee shop inside and a yoga studio. A yoga class was included in my stay so I took that opportunity. I had a room with a real key! It was large and included a very comfortable bed, microwave, fridge and my view was the magnificent church building directly cross the street. The front desk people texted me each day to see if all was well. I truly enjoyed being there and can highly recommend it as a cool destination if you love history, architecture and stepping back in time.

A beautiful stay in one of the oldest areas on the East Coast. The only negative was the inability to control the heart in our room. It was very cold outside, but still it seemed far too hot in the room to sleep. Otherwise I couldn't recommend a lodging in the Schenectady area higher. Such comfortable beds. And after a long night of celebrating they were kind though to let us stay in to the early afternoon instead of kicking us out to turnover the room.

I have always loved this historic building and finally had the chance to stay when the in house Yoga and Wellness studio, Inner Bliss had a three day retreat. My room was beautiful, bright, and comfortable. It was warm despite it being 3 degrees outside. It felt like a boutique hotel in NYC. I was able to soak in a huge tub and look out at the adjacent historic stone church. The staff were amazing. Shout out to Deb who was on top of everything right down to extra chocolate on my pillow.
