Padre South Hotel

Positive: I loved the ladies that helped at the breakfast buffet. I didn't get their names, but one in particular was so patient and with a smile each time I asked a question. Negative: n/a

We had a wonderful Christmas holiday at Padre South. The accommodations, though dated, are cozy, clean and convenient to the beach. It was easy to walk to the back elevator and head straight down to the rear of the lobby which led to the outside deck and path to the beach, where we saw the sunrise both days we there. The hotel is clean and the lobby was beautifully decorated. The coffee service was minimal; I would have liked to have tea, but there wasn't any. The front desk people were friendly and efficient. I liked some of the vintage features, but with a renovation that preserved some of the old school touches, Padre South would be an amazing place to stay.

This hotel was great. The location had the bay on one side and the beach on the other side. It was a short few steps to the beach. The room was very clean. Everyone at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Our stay was fantastic. I will definitely stay there again.

The front desk staff was dismissive and unhelpful during check-in. Our first room had a strong odor consistent with bodily waste — similar to a nursing facility — and the smell appeared to be embedded in both the carpet and floor. It was not livable. We requested a room change, which was granted, but the interaction felt rushed and indifferent rather than apologetic or professional. For the price and rating of this hotel, basic cleanliness and respectful service should be standard. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

Padre South Hotel This is a great affordable place to stay when visiting South Padre Island. You have ocean front access and a restaurant next door and a nearby CVS walking distance. I also really love their large balconies. You will want to have comfortable folding chairs for the balcony.
