Holiday Inn Express & Suites South Padre Island by IHG

The SPI Holiday Inn Express is nothing less than fantastic. By far the staff exceeds beyond compare in making you feel welcome and part of their family. Always polite and greeted with a smile. During a month long stay I was extremely pleased. The beds and pillows are comfortable. The one suggestion I would have is that more variety day to day for breakfast would be nice. Kudos to the HIE SPI!

The hotel is in a safe area, which we really appreciated. The room was spacious, clean, and the A/C worked well. The bed was comfortable and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The beach was also within walking distance, which made things really convenient. The breakfast selection was good, but it would be nice to have more options for guests who don’t eat pork or beef—offering chicken sausage instead would be a great improvement. The only issue we experienced was with the electric vehicle charging stations. There are three chargers, but some guests left their cars plugged in all night and even during the day, making it hard for others to use them. It would be helpful if management monitored the charging and notified guests when their vehicle is fully charged so others get a

Nice clean hotel! Okay typical breakfast. The pool was nice and clean, very adequate for a child. This hotel is by far family friendly. Although it would be nice to consider putting more hoses or showers for those that go to the beach and come back. That way they are not rinsing inside pool. The beach is close by walking distance. I gave a 4 because I did find some small roaches inside restroom.

We had a great stay. The bed was comfy. The pillows were not that great and the water pressure in the shower is my only complaints. The breakfast was one of the best we've had at a hotel. Everyone was friendly and the hotel was clean. Nice pool area and within a block and a half to the beach. Would definitely stay here again.

Before I get started on my thoughts about the hotel, I must first say that this is in no way a resort! At least it is not like any other resort that I have stayed at. Sure it might have more than one pool and a "swim-up bar" that is not staffed every day and more than one restaurant (that is all served from the same kitchen). The rooms have tried to have been updated with paint, but the rust on the lampshade gives away the fact that this hotel is in need of some serious updates. In our room there was a fly stuck to the wall that someone had swatted. There was rust on the lampshade as mentioned previously, rust on the faucet on the sink and a hair dryer that was past it's prime. The stopper in the tub was also full of rust.
