Old Mill Inn

Positive: The price Negative: The pool & hot tub were out of order. Our room had a clogged sink and frig & microwave didn't work. One of the staff took my teen son's shoes & manager claimed this couldn't be true.

This hotel was terrible. This is a lengthy read, but worth it before you reserve a room. I reserved the room via phone, asked for two queen beds and a pull-out couch. I was told I can ask for a couch upon checking in (I thought that was weird...) and never once did they ask me how many people would be staying in my room (again, weird, and I should have known, but it was not mentioned by the receptionist). I also verified that they had a pool and a continental breakfast, and was told yes. When checking in, I asked how late their pool is open because my kids were looking forward to swimming. He told me "It's been drained for a while now, sorry." Also, I was charged an additional $15 per person in the room, per night. So when I arrived, I could not check in until after the check in time because the rooms were not ready which was fine but then after I checked in my room was wide open because the room had not been cleaned yet so I decided to walk across the street to the local bar and wait an hour and go back when I went back. The room was still in the same state so I was hungry because I had driven a long ways to get there and I entered the room and decided to just sit down anyways and eat my food and the one lady who was The cleaning lady came in and asked me to leave because the road had not been cleaned yet and I let her know I had paid for the room and I needed to stay and eat, and she began cleaning the room. I was really disappointed with my stay here. The breakfast options were extremely limited — barely anything to choose from, and what was available didn’t seem well stocked. The room and common areas felt dirty overall. There was little to no soap in the bathroom, which is a basic necessity that shouldn’t be overlooked. The room also had a very limited number of towels, which made things inconvenient. After 9 inches of snow, the walkways were not shoveled and the parking lot was not plowed, which felt unsafe and careless. The front doors were broken, so you had to manually slide them open and shut yourself. On top of that, the pool was closed/broken during our stay. The hotel is dark and outdated, but it was clean. Unfortunately, the comforter had a large burn hole in it, which was disappointing. The breakfast was cold and mediocre. They may be better off offering a simple continental breakfast, especially since there didn’t seem to be anyone regularly stocking or attending the area. The pool is closed, though I wasn’t sure if that is temporary or permanent. The in-room hot tub also had tape on the exterior base, and the on/off switch only worked intermittently. I ended up having to use the reset button on the wall to turn it off. On a positive note, the location is in a great area, near Westroads Mall, with several food options nearby, which was very convenient.
