Nāmakanipaio Campground and Cabins

This review is about camping and renting their equipment. We camp over a month a year on the mainland so we are used to camping. When I called about this service I was told it would be very comfortable. Unfortunately we had a horrible experience. In my opinion they should not offer this service. When we arrived after a long day of traveling, the inflatable mattress was flat. The front desk couldn’t find the air pump, so after an hour they finally moved us to a cabin that was available for that night. It was after midnight when we finally got moved. The next day we were told we had a brand new mattress. It was flat by the time we got to the tent for the evening. I don’t even know if they inflated it. We went back to the front desk to get the air pump in order to re-inflate the mattress ev

What can be said about this slice of heaven, gorgeous, serene, lovely all come to my mind. This campsite has to be the most magnificent campground I’ve ever visited. The tall trees will take your breath away and the views and access to the volcano rim. Just a half mile walk and you’re entering the volcano rim edge. Our family had the pleasure of getting one of the coveted parking slips, which you can stay a max of seven days. There are security guards that patrol the campsite and ensure that your site passes are current and to enforce any noise complaints. There are clean restrooms and a wash sink for your camp dishes. Within a few minutes of the National Park gate entrance, this place checks ALL the boxes. Total rate this 10000/10, would advise anyone looking for an awesome site,

Such a wonderful place to stay away from the resorts. The cabins are super nice, they have lights & one electrical outlet plus provided linens. And hot showers! My kids loved the bunk beds. The forest is beautiful and it’s a nice hike to view the crater. We will definitely stay here again, such a great way to spend less on accommodation but actually have a better experience. Loved it!||My only tip would be to get groceries before leaving Kona/Hilo as things are very expensive and limited out in Volcanoes

Great location for camping. My kids always have a blast at he cabins. They are very basic but have a full bed on two single bunks. The cabins are a great alternative to tent camping and are pretty affordable. Love that cabin guests can have access to the hotel buffet with guues discount prices. We have stayed at several of the cabins and cabin one has a bit of a negative in that the fire pit is not right in front of the cabin like all of the others. It is difficult to sit around and side walls are very high making it less confusing for family fire pit and marshmallows time. Other than that a great place!

Located three miles from the Volcano House, this is a nice venue to stay for less cost than the hotel. There are about 8 cabins and an adjacent tenting camp. Though there was a fire ban in place when we stayed, they do provide a fire pit and charcoal grill for each cabin. Our cabin slept four having a queen and two bunk beds with shelving and towels for showing. Bathrooms are code-locked so that only those camping can use them. Plenty of hot water for showering and they provide the towels, soap, and shampoo. You also have your own picnic table. It's a nice and peaceful location and kept clean. A three mile drive to the Volcano House nets you a free memosa drink and free morning coffee, tea, or hot chocolate each morning of your stay.
