We booked 3 nights for our trip to the volcano national park but had to leave after two nights: Pros: 1) proximity to volcano national park 2) manicured garden/entrance Cons: 1) terrible odour of dampness in room. Very noticeable upon entry. Does not dissipate with windows opened 2) shower is very gross. See photos. Mouldy. I couldn’t bring myself to have a shower there 3) Dusty/unclean linens. I don’t have any known allergies but my face and neck got so itchy every night that I was not able sleep. I finally had to throw away the big pillow and wrapped the other pillow with my clothing in conjunction with putting gold bond over my my face and neck 4) lack of privacy. The curtains are quite shabby and are see-thru at night. 5) microwave is very gross. All stained inside
This is a wonderful place to stay in volcano. Very eclectic and bohemian with a warm touch of aloha spirit. The hosts are delightful and helpful We arrived very late after s long day and we were shown to our room and made to feel welcome. Our room is very large with two queen beds, a kitchenette and a toilet and shower room. Very comfy and cozy. In the morning we were delighted to find ourselves in a tropical paradise with lots of greenery and flowers. Beautiful. We also were happy to find ourselves 5-10 minutes from Hawaii volcano national park. We spent a lot of time at the park enjoying volcanic activity. This was a dream lifetime experience for us
This place was so cool. It was basically a little cabin in the rainforest. Our room had a little terrarium and a huge double shower. You could even stargaze outside - there's a little seating area where you can sit and listen to the birds (there's a lot of them!). The room felt clean as well, and we felt that it was worth the price. Very close to VNP. The owners provide a little "breakfast" (in reality, it was biscotti with some fruit and maybe another snack or two) in your room, but there is also a nice little fridge and coffee maker. Overall, we would definitely stay here again!
We stayed at this cute B & B near the volcano. Our room had a mini kitchen, two beds, a shower bathroom. It had personality! The grounds are lovely. I felt like we were in the jungle. The room had a funky smell. We enjoyed our time there.
Warning !!! Very musky, moldy and dark. This review is from a local who lives on the big island. We rented the “ orchid room” there “newest” room. When we opened the door it was an overwhelming odor of musky mold conditions. I have lived in both Kauai and big island and I know that it can be a challenge to control mold YET when you are paying almost $200 there is no excuses. The glass garden area is mostly black painted rock not real and was an eye sore to look at. The nook for seating and table has old faded dirty cushions. We left immediately. NOT recommended
