North Bay Inn

Even if new, this is at best a two star level motel given its location in a rough part of town and right on the freeway interchange of 580 and 101. Only reason to stay here is if you get an extremely low price, and don't care about noise, risk of theft, and intend to only drive anywhere. This area is a rent by hour type of location, so you don't want to be walking around at night.

The woman in charge was very sweet and kind. I was in town alone for a surgery and when leaving out for it she told me that she would pray for me. That touched me. The room was everything I needed. It was clean, comfortable and cold (ac). I was a little worried when I pulled up in my Uber due to it's closeness to the highway, but was pleasantly surprised. I was not bothered at all by any noise or anything shady. No food or drinks offered due to COVID but there was a mini fridge, a microwave and a coffee maker with supplies. All clean and ready to be used. Didn't use the toiletries, they were too floral for me, but they are supplied. Showers were hot, couch and bed were comfortable, the bed was very comfortable. The maintenance team work hard and it shows, I'd see them work as I took daily

I give this hotel 5 stars for the following reasons - price for the location - the hotel was spotlessly clean and well maintained. - the staff were accommodating to our needs for a second parking spot. Yes the motel is close to the freeway (aren't many of them?) and there is freeway noise, but the motel construction dampened some of the noise and it quietened down at night. I am a light sleeper, and used earplugs, and a sound machine on my phone, and was fine. I particularly liked the clean, white cotton covers to the bed. They were so much nicer than the likely unwashed dingy colored covers you get at similar motels.

There is no breakfast. Ice machine works. Microwave works. Bigger fridge that doesn't have freezer. Coldest temperature appears to be 40 degrees Thin towels, feel like sandpaper. Plenty of hot water, but no pressure. Tub is surprisingly NOT slippery. Room has been renovated recently. Tile wall in shower and new toilet. Faux granite counter tops on all furniture. Desk even has a drawer. HVAC filters were filthy. Can turn on constant fan without cold or hot, so good white noise. Wooden shutters are a nice touch. Every single morning the trash guy has to empty the dumpster for Harbor Freight around 4:45. So annoying
