This is by far our favorite camp site. We booked 6 months out. There was 12 of us in our group so we reserved 2 camp sites next to each other. Each site can accommodate up to 8 people. It’s $35/night + $8.25 reservation fee. 1 free parking per site and $5/day for each additional car. We had 8 tents set up and there was still room to put up more. There was so much space. I was afraid as we’ve never done a walk in camp site before but the parking lot was so close. There was plenty of garbage totters to help carry stuff to the camp site. We did it in just 1 trip. Bathrooms were ok. The toilet seats have seen better days. There are coin operated showers. $1 for 10 mins. The sign for firewood says sold between 4-6pm but when we arrived after 6pm we could still get some from the camp host. We
Found friendly camp host in campground parking lot. Bring cash for firewood. Bring a wagon or be prepared to walk multiple times to the car. Busy weekend in campground lots of students of all ages. Bathrooms were fine. Bring your own tp jik. Showers cost many quarters. Campsite 16 near Shoreline trail and bathrooms. Decent site. Too close to other people. Large with trees. Fire ring with a grate. Turkeys, deer, many birds plus an interesting night visitor (maybe a fox or coyote). Great trails. Beautiful park. Head to China Camp store for a beer. Told me it’s the oldest liquor license in the county (?)! Great place to identify local edible plants. Was able to find and ID most of what’s in Bay Area Forger.
Camped last night at the hike and bike spot 2 and it was fantastic. Zero poison oak in the campground and easy access to flush toilets and clean showers. Water tasted good from the tap and the campsite had an adequate food locker. The camp host was wonderful and very helpful. Overall a better than expected experience
Loved the area! Super clean and it feels very safe there. Hosts are friendly and welcoming. Great discount for veterans!
The campsite was ok, sites were very close together, and it’s difficult to get some silence, if you are near the bathrooms you’ll have lights on all night and hear people opening and closing the doors, there are upper and lower areas, you’ll need to cart all your stuff in and if you have a family it can be a lot of stuff to walk in, especially to the upper area. They have trash cans with wheels to use to carry your stuff, bring a wagon and camp in the lower area away from the bathrooms and you’ll enjoy this beautiful valley. The camp hosts are amazing, Patrick is awesome, super helpful and friendly.
