My Place Hotel-Brookings, SD

I stayed at the hotel the night of 10/5/25 and noticed 33+ bed bug bites the next day on my drive home. I've experienced bed bugs before (different hotel) and it was a nightmare to get rid of them (needed heat treatment of our home, which is expensive), so I am confident in the exposure at My Place. This caused a lot of stress trying to safely to do laundry, unpack, throw away, and plastic bag items when I returned home, as well as monitor my home incase anything was missed. The hotel shared that housekeeping checked the room twice and found nothing; however, bed bugs can be difficult to spot and hide well. We have been visiting Brookings for the past few years and have been staying at My Place. The front desk people are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and well kept. We enjoy our yearly visit.

We stayed here for the first time during the wknd of Feb 14-16. We visit Brookings often as my stepdaughter runs for the Jacks. But this was the first time staying at MyPlace.||We have no complaints. The exterior is unique in that has nice modern colors with brick and a little video billboard built in on the top. It was very clean, with nice, spacious rooms. Our room had a kitchenette with a full size fridge, which was really nice. I think all the rooms have these kitchenette, but I can't confirm. The beds were very comfortable, as sometimes "hotel beds" are just the opposite. ||The only thing that some may not like is that they don't offer a breakfast in the morning. That wasn't a deal breaker for us as we usually go out. We're staying here again for a few more events coming up.

First time staying at a MY PLACE hotel. I chose it over a VRBO house rental because it had a kitchen (fridge, sink, cooktop, microwave). My surprise was that even though the kitchen was in great shape it DID NOT have plates, coffee cups, utensils, or cookware of any kind in the room! This should have been stated on the reservation website. ​The hotel was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located.
