My Place Hotel-Altoona, IA

1 star because I stayed here for 2 months but they won't honor the rewards points because they discounted the stay because the duration of the stay was so long. So because of the discounted rate they say I dont qualify for hotel points. I will not be choosing this brand of hotels for my extended stays if they won't honor points. I will go to wyndam chains because whether the room was discounted or not they honor points and welcome the business. That shouldn't disqualify me for all points. Rewards should match price paid for the room. Discounted stay shouldn't mean 0 rewards. That makes no sense. I personally don't care about it smelling like weed but if you do this might not be the place for you. Nothing about my stay was bad the staff is nice and accommodating but 1 star for the disqualif

The room we had was clean but insanely damp! Im guessing it's because of the A/C but whether we turned the temperature up or not, the room stayed damp. The furniture felt damp, our clothes, and everything be brought in. It wasn't enough to damage anything, just felt like camping in a very humid environment. Location was great though.

Unbelievable amount of noise from other rooms and people moving around. The floors here are wooden and you can hear every person walking around. Literally all night long someone above us was walking around. In the morning a group of people started talking at 6am, and you could hear every word. If you want a nice quiet peaceful night of rest, this is not the place. Pay extra and find someone else.

First room we were put in was still dirty, socks on the floor and dirty bathroom. They quickly got us moved to another room and it was better. There was a slightly strange smell, but overall was a great location for a weekend in Des Moines.

I have stayed in many hotels (different brands) with identical room layout and similar rates in metro areas for my bike vacations, so I’m comparing apples to apples. ||Room was always damp. As in, the wash rag you washed your face with this morning would still be damp tomorrow morning. Nothing ever dried. ||Kitchenette has ZERO dishes, utensils, pots/pans, drinkware, tableware. Nothing. A coffee maker and a toaster, that’s it. I get these rooms so I can make my own meals to save money, and I had to go buy dishes at Walmart. Every other time I tried to use the microwave, the breaker blew and I had to reset it. Not the GFCI at the counter, the actual breaker in the breaker box. The microwave was the only thing on that circuit. ||Housekeeping was supposed to happen every four days. I had to a
