Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Des Moines Altoona

Not as I Remember|On previous visits very pleased, this time not so much. Began when I booked and found rates were jacked up to $300 on Friday night so I changed to a more reasonable day for my 2 day stay. Receptionist would not let me do early check in at 2:30 even though I am a Gold Member as she said hotel was full and rooms not yet cleaned. So I had to find a place for my 93 year old friend on a walker to rest in the lobby. At exactly 3 PM rooms were miraculously all cleaned at the same time and she started checking in folks. Not offered the bottle of water gold members get…had to ask. No housekeeping and not told there would not be any so I got my $10 tip back. Staff not very friendly- just going thru required motions. Do I like this Mariott, I sure do! The location is amazing and quiet with easy access to the interstate. There are a couple of restaurants close by that are within walking distance. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly and I feel safe at this location.

Front Dest Guy Dan was Wonderful. So Polite, So Cheerful ! Very Courteous. Dan is The Man. Jasmine was also Very Nice. The Breakfast Lady, was also Very Sweet. Everybody was Great. Good Place to stay. Check it out.

All of the staff were extremely friendly and made me feel at home. The hotel is very nice and has a new feel. The pool and hot tub were wonderful as well, very clean and inviting with plenty of towels.The bed was very comfortable. I wish the room had a microwave, but I was glad there was a refrigerator. I also wish I would have gotten some of the staff's names, but it would be hard to single anyone out for exceptional service, as every single person I came into contact with was wonderful. Everyone was extremely pleasant and happy and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home. I definitely recommend this hotel. I would gladly stay here again!

I was passing through town. Great price, great room and breakfast as well. Every staff member was friendly and approachable. I highly recommend.
